Don’t even get started on 04b10.

There’s far more issues with the ECU calibration from the factory than just the shift logic in the automatic. Lots of other things are quite noticeable when you take the slushbox out of the way.

Clicked the "trade in" button last night, OG purp going in the mail this week, then just figure out the new fangled P5F.
Many thanks to Matt for all his hard work over the years, the new vF Tune looks really, really cool!

Why exactly did Toyota make the 2016+ Tacoma's shift the way they do factory? What was wrong with the 2nd Gen Tacoma Transmission?

personally the 4.0 with an extra gear would have probably been sufficient.

the 3.5 with 2.0 I don’t miss the 4.0 any more. It’s now got the low end power the 4.0 had and runs smooth. Also pulls to 7200 rpm are too much fun

Especially after I flashed back to the tune. I remember taking my truck to the dealer for a service and they updated from 04B03 to 04B04 and I had to wait for Mat to write an updated tune. That wait period really sucked and was when 1.04R appeared. Remember that?

Running the 2.0 final and with ECT enabled, it seems 6th gear is reserved for ~70 MPH. I think that's pretty great.

Same thing happened when i went from 1.04A to 04b13 and had to wait for 1.04R. 04b13 was definitely better than 04b12 but it didn’t take long to notice the power loss from not having the tune.

Boy howdy! A statement of truth there. I wanted the tune back so bad.

I did the 04B03 to 04B04 upgrade with techstream, and immediately flashed the tune back on. Luckily I didn't have to wait. It was to get one of the newer 2.0 betas without having to wait for the 04B03 version.

Unfortunately, with my situation and many others, 2.0 didn’t exist yet. We were just barely transitioning from 1.03 to 1.04. Then, bam! Toyota did us all a solid by updating our UCUs to B04. Gee... thanks Toyota!
