    Yeah, everyone I work with is thoroughly fed up.
    I can hardly imagine how it is for people out of work wondering how they'll make ends meet.
    I dunno, if the economy goes into another Great Depression, what was the point?
    There will be widespread misery and lots of people will die of privation, guaranteed.
    Directly or indirectly.

    So far the death toll doesn't match some epidemics in my own lifetime...
    ...such as the last big Polio outbreak in 1957, I think.
    There were others...
    I well remember going to the funeral of a little girl in my church when I was 6-7.
    That one stuck in my memory because it was hard to grasp as a little kid.
    But there was no question that our whole family would go to the funeral.
    I forget what she died from...whooping cough, polio?
    Doesn't matter. There were plenty others from time to time.
    People carried on.

    People used to have a more tragic view on life.
    They didn't expect everything to be peachy all the time.
    They knew they'd face tragedy and they were more prepared for it.
