Has any one on here installed a carrier bearing drop kit? Easy to do by yourself? Did you need to lift up the truck to do it? Did it fix any shakes and/or vibrations?

I'm still having some shakes around the 55-65mph range, even with road force balancing, and picked up a used cb drop kit for cheap, so thinking about attempting to put it on myself.

 

Lifting of the truck not needed. You unbolt the carrier bearing from the truck and place the drop in, then bolt the bearing back in. Don’t let it fall out and hit you in the head or pull out of the transmission. Should be 2 bolts.

You have to lift with the legs and it helps to have a strong core. But having a strong core requires sit ups and shit LOL. I go with lift with the legs. I still pull a muscle once in awhile.

 

Just tried to loosen the bolts for the carrier bearing... HOLY FUCK! No go.

Gonna try again after I'm done with work, and have a bit more time.

 

I don't even fuck around anymore, the impact gun comes out for almost anything. Had too many busted knuckles and stripped bolts playing around with hand tools.

 

Wish I had one of those...

 

I bit the bullet a few years ago. I thought it was overkill when I bought it, but its been awesome. Changing blades on the mower is a breeze, maybe do it as a write off for your "New Lawn Nuno's Lawn Care" business. I got a battery powered one that works with my other dewalt stuff.

 

Battery powered one?!?! Do tell me more please!

 

It's a dewalt, runs off the same batteries as my drills and such. I bet Milwaukee or whatever brand you prefer has one. But I haven't run into a bolt that it couldn't loosen up for me. Being so portable is great too.

 

Cool. I may have to look into that then.

We used it during the bed swap.
Mine is a Craftsman. Bought it to use up a Sears gift card when it looked like they were going t.u.
