    Hmm . . . none as yet, that's why i'm here . . .
My first question is how does everyone get the heading for a post in bold print?

Main question - replacing fuel pump, is it easier to drop tank or remove bed.
    Thanks all.

It's already bolded? It's bold until you read the thread. It becomes bold again when the thread is updated with a new post.

I think most people have dropped the tank.

Depends on how much fuel is in the tank and if you have help or not.

Full tank - remove the bed.
Empty tank - drop the tank.

I used a jack with a sheet of ply wood to hold the tank as I dropped it.
    It was a bitch

Motorcycle jack with 2 rails (not a single flat surface) might work. You could cut up some radiator hose and wrap the rails with it, using tie wraps, for a bit more secure hold.

OK, Appreciate all the thoughts/ideas. Let me make this a bit easier to decide for me, I have the use of a fully equipped shop including full height lift or extra help to slide the bed back a bit.

Depends. I THINK the access cab / double cab LONG bed you can get to the pump by pulling the bed off. on a DCSB the pump is under the cab so you have to drop the tank on the DCSB.

If you have access to a lift and shop tools, do they have a transmission jack? Something like this?

If so, I think dropping the tank would be easier? Isn't the gas tank held on by 2 straps?

At work, I remove it like these guys.

Is it complicated or a pain in the ass to remove the bed? It was easy on my sons 94 Toyota pickup.

2nd gens have Torx head bed bolts and the rust up real bad and suck to get out, much easier to get to the fuel pump removing the bed but those torx screws make removing a problem

The emission pipes are the bastard, along with disconnecting everything while the tank is dropped 3".

I would always drop the tank, but if you want, try to see if the 55 TORX bolts will move on the bed.

Well I ask not for fuel pump. Gotta remove the bed for proper painting, wrapping or derping.
