oh goody. We pay someone to do our taxes since my wife is an independent contractor (fitness instructor) and she gets like 40 1099s every year.

I’m considering it. Realistically we’re a very simple tax situation so it’s just fill in the box. We have one single family house primary residence. Two normal cars. No second vehicles, no boats or toys or anything like that. The only “complication” is my wife is almost always 1099 and she can deduct mileage and whatnot. I’m thinking about DIY next. Year and see how it goes. Would save us 500 bucks or so.

that said I did cancel the USO order. So many other things will take that trip 3x value in the next few years right now. Before knowing what the whole K2 stuff is I’ll avoid that headache of learning under the gun. Last I knew K2 was a mountain.

 

Maybe, but I don't run a small business and I tend to stay out of the audit zone. My guv retirement is a 1099-R, but everything else is standard W-2. These days CPA's use software too.

I've been doing my own taxes for 40ish years and was going to be an accountant. I married one instead and I still know more about taxes than she does, but she's not a tax accountant.

so I did look it up. There’s OILK. Which is an etf without a k1 form. It’s up 300% or so today.

 

It’s just pure speculation and not investing.

@ThunderOne , Im guessing you dabble in commodity etfs a bit. When would you jump out of SCO when looking at the graphs? Im tempted to put a high limit sell and hope it hits. currently its up 40% today. Im looking at its previous high and set my limit there but also wondering if since oil is crashing hard it may go well past the previous high

 

What podcasts do you guys recommend for beginners in the market? For the foreseeable future I’ll be riding in a tractor 6+ hours per day so I have time to listen and learn.

 

I like some of Dave Ramsey's stuff, mostly for entertainment purposes and some good advice. I don't agree with a lot of his theory (such as paying off debt vs. taking low interest debt and investing instead). It's good entertainment with some learning though. I also listen to some of the stuff from Project Life Mastery on YouTube. The dude is a young guy and a millionaire, and very level headed when he talks about investing.

 

Is there decay involved with that stock? If so, just keep your trading windows fairly small. If you've made some good gains, cash out (or sell your initial investment equity and let the profits ride).. big moves like this tend to snap in the other direction quickly. That's just my experience.

 

Yes, not sure of the actual decay value but it is a 2x inverse etf so it will have some decay. Right on, thanks for the advice, this is the first commodity etf I've played with but knew had to jump on the oil tanking.

Just looking at the graph this thing whips back and forth pretty often so I can see how people may lose their shirts holding it too long
