haha i hate lanterns when we camp.....
the last trip my friend brought one and the f ing thing was always on...and with the no moon that weekend you could actualy watch satelights rotate in the sky..."except for when the dam lantern was on
so i ask him hey what did u pay for that lantern
    he replies $45
i then pull out my 38 and pump 5 rounds into it....
then walk over and hand him $ 60
    problem solved:D:D

yeah i really have no plans for taking a lantern with me...if i need to see in the dark...i have several flashlights...but those type of things ruin nightvision

    yup thats what im saying
i see just fine except for the lanterns and the dam freaking headlamps is another thing
dam they are great when your cooking but no one turns them off and then they go to talk to you with them on ouch....

the old school boat captains used to wear a patch over one eye as to always have a night vision eye ready...
they say it takes 20 mins to fully adjust....

    exactry!

all my lights have momentary on switches...dont need much more than that

my current plan of action is to be able to load up in 15 minutes or less...and drive approx 3 miles to a friend of mine's dad's house where he has plenty more guns/ammo/rations/etc...he's a former Ranger with 3 tours in Vietnam under his belt...i'd say he's a damn good ally
