No odd teeth # due to narrow wide chain rings these days. Doable with straight teeth.

Man I'm just ribbing you. I know machining stuff gets expensive quick and the powder coat is a nice addition. Not to mention it is competitively priced with the competition.

Spinner. I ordered a 32 to start off with.

If I decide to go to 34 in the future, having to buy a new chain and another chainring won’t be the worst ways I’ve pissed away money.

I started with an old can of KleenStrip which took the paint right off, then I went to pick up more and the same product didnt work at all. Turns out they changed the formula a couple years back to make it safer. Whatever chemical they took out you can still buy but you buy it from a chemical supplier instead. I didnt want to go through that trouble so I just stripped what was left with a wirewheel. If I had to do it again though, I would just buy the chemical stripper and take the correct safety precautions. This is a Specialized Crave

Yea, that makes sense and the narrow/wide does seem to work well, but I'd even be ok w/ a straight tooth setup. But couldn't a chainring technically have 2 narrow (or wide) teeth next to each other?

Nope, it would get everything out of sync since the chain alternates widths. As an engineer, I’ve observed symmetry and even numbers seem to win a lot...

ugh "safety" changes. I was looking into chemical strippers and it looks like quite the mess lol

Nice crave! I rode one for a few weeks (SS rigid) and it was a pretty fun bike.

why would anyone want the "short travel" version of a bike?

specifically talking about the stumpjumper and the stumpjumper st.

Poppier/more lively, more nimble, different trail feel (better to some vs others), likely different geo due to suspension sag, pedal efficiency, etc.

There are just as many converse pros to the longer travel version.

Not every area needs long travel just as not every area is conducive to shorter travel bikes.

    Kind of, and needs.

A sledge hammer and a finish hammer are both hammers that accomplish a similar task in virtually the same way. But you still choose one over the other due to the nature of the job, not necessarily based on preference alone.
