WHY?!

Why do i only have driveline vibrations when it's cold outside? it rides perfect when its above 60 F.

turn the heat on....... is it in the s/wheel or the truck?

 

Its your truck telling you to move somewhere warmer...or metal contracting...one of the two.

 

I think its you shivering and blaming the truck

 

Turn the stereo up....you'll never notice.

Seriously.... Are you absolutely sure that its driveline vibrations?

Because - we don't have the whole story and it could be a variety of different things that pop up. Need more info.

 

I hear ya. Mine was great up until it got cold here this weekend. I had a tiny bit of take off shudder, but that was at 15-20 degrees C, now it's 0 and below, and I have a bit of vibe at 60 km/h...don't get it?!

 

well you can hear it and feel it vibrate. it's not a steady vibration its a pattern and it starts right away and you can't feel it after about 60mph. and i'm not talking about freezing weather i'm talking about 50s.

 

Ok....that doesn't tell me anything. You gotta give us more information. Driveline vibes that I refer as - don't just show up because the weather is bad or cold.

When was the last time you lubricated your u-joints?

Did you check your tires to make sure you didn't lose a wheel weight?

Rotate your tires and see if the vibration changes feel or location.

 

Just changed all the fluids (front end, rear end, tansfer case)
to see if that was the problem. Also greased all the fitting available
No fix. It's not a wheel weight be cause it only does it
Below 60F. So I'm pretty sure that a balance/rotate wouldn't
Give me better results either. The feeling is coming from the
Front and you can just barely feel it in the steering wheel.
I'm not sure if it would be the oil I use in the f/e t/c r/e.

 

it's probably just your tires, does it go away after you drive it awhile (tires heat up)?

mine does it when my tires are cold

 

Vibrations are funny things and they develope rythms at certain speeds/rpm's. So, just because it happens below 60mph, doesn't mean you can rule out your tires.

I still think you should rotate your tires to see if the vibration changes FEEL.

Now that you mention the steering wheel....that could be a ton of other things.

What happens when you step on the brake?
Have you tried putting it in 4WD? Do the vibrations change? Get worse or go away completely?
