I know this is not a practical solution, but if there was a removable gas tank that would prevent a vehicle from being driven away. Unless the thief has their own gas tank.

I could have sworn I saw someone here who wired a hidden kill switch to their brights. Push the light stalk forward before you can start the truck. I thought that was rather clever.

If your clutch depressed switch is bad you need to push Clutch Start Cancel every time, yielding a similar security enhancement against the uninitiated.

Honestly, not sure how you can win in Albuquerque aside from a garage if that's even an option...lived there a couple of years, me and my roommates had all our vehicles broke into or stolen repeatedly. I've never seen anything like it. One car they tried to steal and couldn't so they stabbed the dash repeatedly with a screwdriver and slashed all the leather.....tough place to have nice things.....good insurance helps...good luck

I leave underwear on my seat to deter bad guys. No one want to touch other people's underwear.

I used to live 4 miles from downtown Cleveland, OH. Theft of everything was a problem at the time (not much better now). Somebody jacked the column of my car but didn't drive away because it was a manual. I didn't want to try my luck anymore so I found the wire from the fuse panel that led to the ECM pulled it and put in a very small toggle switch under the seat. I caught somebody looking through the windows at 3am. I opened the window and racked the 12 ga and screamed at him (didn't want him to have enough time to pry the door again and I was 4 floors up). It was cold and icy. Scared him well enough he turned to run and slipped on the ice. He landed on his face and then ran off clumsily through the snow and ice down the street where his driver was waiting for him. They night they broke into my car I had just returned from a trip that ran from NYC to a few nights in Las Vegas. I had an envelope in my center console with about $600 in it that they didn't touch, but they did grab the $300 receiver from the dash, pried the door open so made paint work and busted the column to hell (I started the car with a screwdriver).

It was never tested, but it made for something I could easily flip without being obvious that would make starting the car all but impossible for the average car stealing bear (I know, I know...flatbed. It was a tight turn radius parking spot on a 1 way narrow street with parking on both sides. Possible, but it would have been very difficult.)

The kid ended up getting busted. His mom turned him in. He was about 24 and she never went in his room. She caught him sneaking out at around 3am and was scared he was into drugs. She found paraphernalia and about 100 car stereos etc under his bed, lining his closet....everywhere throughout his room. I got much more satisfaction from watching him nibble pavement than knowing he went to county.

Years and years ago four-wheelers were putting a system on their trucks that had a kill switch, but it let the truck run for 10-15 seconds. The theory was that it died in the middle of the street where they were too obvious.

I’ve seen too many pictures of those bent and people saying they found the bent club in the back seat of their recovered vehicle after it was stolen. Clubs are a good deterrent for the average theif though. I may look into wiring a kill switch

Using a pair of bolt cutters to the steering wheel and that club is easily removed in seconds

Wire a stun gun to the door handles and watch whoever touches / grabs the door handle gets hit with 50k volts

CRT flyback coils are good for this, 40kV of fun for all ages.

A flashbang might be well purposed here too.

They can have it if they want it that bad. That’s why I have insurance, not worth worrying about. No big deal...
