please explain to me how the "voting" for the winner works!?!?! How can one with almost 75% of the votes lose to one with less than 15% of the votes? :notsure:

The voting was two phased. It was Forum voting and then Judge voting that was not part of the poll in this page. Those two things factored to determine the winning orders.

    Sure thing!

The contest was set up from the very beginning to include both a poll and a judges' ranking. The scoring was weighted towards the poll ranking and the poll winner was assured at least 2nd overall, but the judging panel was always going to be a part of it.

1st in the poll and 2nd in the judges' ranking would be better than 2nd in the poll and 1st in the judges' ranking. Winning the poll by 1 or 100 votes is the same 1st place finish, just like there was no scaling between 1st and 2nd in the judges' ranking.

The poll is weighted heavier because it encourages folks to get the word out and bring other members in to the thread to see about the contest.

The judge's ranking is included so that other folks, who maybe don't get to as many other threads to drive participation here, still have a chance.

Did we strike the right balance? I don't know. I think it went alright for a free, impromptu contest designed to add a frivolous distraction to the community, but I'm always all ears for suggestions to make it better! I can promise the intent was to make it as fair and fun as possible.

Just want to say thanks to all who put this cook-off together. I know it takes alot of time & effort, plus offering prizes all for shits&giggles is truly commendable. Congratulations to the winners as well. All the entries looked mighty tasty. Hope to be able to join next time!

We all tried to judge fairly and it was hard to judge because ALL the food looked so good. I know I went over my rankings many times to make my final cuts. Was a lot of fun.

It was a lot of fun. I'm glad I get to organize and judge - it's work, but I don't have to go up against all of the cooks on the forum :D.

If it weren't at least a little confusing, it wouldn't be a @bvbull200 cook-off.

Honestly, I blame @Misplaced Nebraskan for the confusion. His outdated internet creates huge amounts of latency.
