I'm good with that logic :D

I took my wife along, after about the first quarter mile of nagging she started to enjoy it!

There was a sheriff coming down, came face to face to on the way up.. We thought the fun was over ... Was going to backup and tuck in for him but he just flew right passed us... I was waiting for that window to come down but he kept going...

It was fairly busy, we stopped at doghouse junction, of course there was a DRT bag up there lol. I run into these guys everywhere I go.. We ended up caravaning back down..

    Was a good day..

Trails back to Holcomb are open if you go the right ways. Van Dusen canyon gate is still closed but that’s a boring trail to get back there anyways. Heading to the other side of the lake by Black Bluffs trails still had the gates closed as well, but that’s just winter season. I’m sure if you were up for it you could still ride from Bear all the way down to Arrowhead.

I know that we should all be staying home during this time. I was just wondering if anyone has gone out towards Ocotillo Wells recently? I know That south is the highway is BLM land and it’s still open. I was planning on doing a day run on Friday out towards fish creek wash. Just wanted to know if anyone had been there and had any issues with rangers. Thanks guys.

If I do end up going I will take plenty of food/snacks/gas that way I will avoid all people 100% while I’m out.

I was talking with a coworker today that was driving through yesterday. OW all taped off with signs saying closed along the 78.

That's like spending money to shutdown the National Mall which is all open space.

its one spot I don’t understand. Guess it’s easier to close everything than to keep certain areas open.

I wonder if Split mountain road closed too? Problem is, the BLM area on the tracks is not state Park but you need to travel through it or very close to it to get there..

The roads like hwy 78 and split mountain are still open. You can still get to BLM easily.

So I ended up going up with a friend, we went up Holcomb Valley Road from Green Valley Lake, to Big Pine Flats, then out to Fawnskin on Coxey Road.

Everything was open on our route, though when I called the ranger station in Fawnskin the day before, they were definitely trying to discourage people from going up. They did say established developed facilities were closed, so things like picnic areas, campgrounds, and restrooms, etc, and you could get a ticket for being there.

I would definitely say if you want to go, be smart about it. Make sure you have enough gas and food/water/drinks to get there and back without having to stop anywhere on your route. Choose an easy trail that doesn't risk damage or getting stuck. And if there are people congregrating somewhere, don't stop, and avoid gatherings with people not part of your household. You know, the common sense stuff we've been doing lately.
