The only difference between the 887 and the 888 is that the 888 have 5mm more preload so they ride a bit stiffer and provide a bit more lift. I personally think that the 887 with a 3/8 spacer rides better than the 888; same lift, a bit more droop and a bit less harsh. Just gotta double check your bump stops and make sure you don’t need to lower or upgrade them

Really? I've always heard the OME leaves are squeaky as hell and dobinsons are better quality with greasable bushings

The OMEs arent greasable but the Dobsons quality hasn't been there in my experience. Ive never had a sag issue with OME rears, 3rd set.

Finished my install yesterday and took it for a short drive. I really like the feel of this set up so far (OME 888, Nitrocharger soft rides, driver’s side trim packer, Headstrong 1/4 top plates, SPC UCA, ECGC bushing, Dakar medium pack, Wheeler’s u bolt flip with super bump). Looks fantastic!!!Really like it. How much lift did you get with the 888s & top plates? What size tires?

    thanks, man!

    23 3/4 driver front and 24 passenger.
    No before measurement. My bad.
    23 3/4 both sides rear.
    21 3/4 before.

I think it’s 3 up front and 2 in the rear.

Those tires are 255 85 16 Toyo MT

Great thread. Question on UCA's. I have a 16 TRD OR with a Four Wheel Camper mounted. Currently have OME Dakars with Firestone bags/Daystar cradles. Planning on OME Nitrochargers to round out the rear, and OME FRTAC16's with 888's and softer valving up front. Front Lift with be 2 inches. Much research is saying that I DON"T need to replace the stock UCA's as I'm only lifting 2 inches...and that alignment should be fine. If anyone else has lifted 2 inches up front, with stock UCA's and had issues I'd love to know about it. I don't really want to replace parts that don't need replacement..but I also don't want to have to go back and swap UCAs after I've done the initial install. Thanks for reading.

    Mods? Yes.
I keep thinking about this, so decided to update. After a 1000 miles and a dozen wheeling trips, i can say they're not stiff. The valving is just different. that, or the dope is just that good :rasta:

@swissrallyman What makes you say this? Just curious. I installed 887's a while back on my 17' access cab. I was not super thrilled on the amount of rake they left me with so I added some 3/8 spacers up front. I always thought about going to 888 in the future thinking that would be a better route so I could get rid of the spacers. Zero complaints on the way the 887 w/ spacers rides.

@boston23 A lot of people complain about the squeaky dekars but do not know that there is a actually a place to grease the leaf spacers with a needle fitting. OME recommends this is done regularly if the truck is driven off road or in mud/wet conditions often. Now that I have added greasing the leafs to my maintenance routine mine are silent.

@IrishRed Before my lift my front measured 20 1/2" with stock weight up front other than my RCI sliders. After adding 887 and driving it for a month or so it measured 22-1/2". After adding the 3/8" spacer to both sides its sitting at 23". I have driven roughly 20K since the spacer was added, a good chunk of that off road, and the lift has stayed the same, no sag. I still only have just the stock weight up front plus my sliders.

Just had OME 887s with softer valving installed up front and Nitros in the rear to go along with a Dakar leaf pack and Firestone air bags with Daystars on my 16 Tacoma TRD AR loaded with a 900 pound Four Wheel Camper. So far I couldn't be happier. It doesn't feel 'that' stiff up front and it just feels solid all around. I'll have it off road over the weekend and cannot wait to try it out.

With the airbags fully deflated, my OME Dakars squeak. When inflated a bit, they don't

Do you grease the leaf isolators or do you have the old packs prior to the use of isolators? There is a good ARB video on here from Australia that shows an ARB tech servicing Dakar leaf packs and shackles on a Land Cruiser. The isolators are intended to be a serviceable part subject to preventative maintenance. I used marine grease on mine. ARB uses sticky red grease. If i would have seen the video prior to ordering my parts I would have also ordered greaseable shackle bolts. I only have a few hundred miles on my new Dakars and may or may not join the squeeky club.
