What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

I used to own a 95.5 so I do remember them fitting pretty damn flush, I am very picky about symmetry and lines and honestly the gapping is not bad at all. Its pretty even all around so it doesn't look odd, Maybe 1/4 inch in the top outside corners but it has to do mostly with the after market grill trimming than the headlight mounting. This front has a special place in my heart cause of the 95.5 that I wanted to commemorate lol. More pics

 

@Gen1FTMFW I've seen some local 96 fronts on the road all stock and even they sometimes have small gaps. I worried about this same thing, I did read that thread that @Madjik_Man made but I did not have to cut the holes for the headlights as they did,so maybe that put me a little further out than they did, and also did not use the piece from the 99 headlight.

 

Now i feel even worse for wrecking my taco that had cold as fuck ac, that hadnt been touched since 1997

 

I just installed my 3rd set of Alcans (yeah, I'm a fanboi) and have never had this issue. My wheels have always been centered in the wheel opening.

I am sure you are correct in this. But to be fair, the last set (set #2) had over 80K on them and were just beginning to lose their ability to hold all that weight. I am heavy at 3000 lbs on the rear axle.

The 2nd set were spec'd for +500 lbs. with 3" of lift. I do feel it is properly bumped allowing the slightest negative (optically barely) at max flex.

But the springs did have to work more than they should have because of the damping issue Brett mentioned. And of course, all the weight too.

 

I have a stock 96 front end, anything you'd like me to measure?

Don't need measurements really. Wouldn't mind a couple of pictures of the OEM 95-97 headlights/grill to compare to the conversions from @Madjik_Man and @mataco4wd.

 

That's the easy part. Lots of options for that part, common to do that for LT setups with 62-64'' long springs.

Not common to do SUA for the stock geometrey. Which I don't think is possible anyways, you'd have to do a long shackle over the frame like any other LT kit so wouldn't really save you much.

Excellent choice. Toyota missed the mark with the 98-00 front ends IMO.

 

I have no idea what you’re talking about.

 

Probably just me, but I think it's:

95.5-97 > 98-00 > 01-04

For some reason, the 01-04 looks curvy and feminine to me.

 

Maybe that’s why they’re so hawt
