Why don't u have Toyota replace your battery with with an AGM on their dime? Time is valuable

I hear ya.. could be but it wouldn’t hurt to pull a multi out and do a parasitic draw test on the battery and the fuses. Sometimes things will get you that you didn’t even think about

It's my fault I'm in this position, I'm just bitter as hell about it.

Just wait for VfTuner to release. It's expected release is within 10 days. Learn to use the application and change the shift points to your likings.

They just put their 84 month high crank in. I’m sure my 2 light bars were slowly draining it at times and me letting it idle 6+ hours a day can’t help but next time I will try

I've not had a single hesitant start in 4 1/2 years stock nor on the beta that was my first ever flash last month. So something changed. Yes my battery is stock from 10/2015 but still holding 12.67v per flash manager and hasn't caused any problems thus far.

Warn starts are pretty much fine. It's the morning starts or even if it's been off for about 4 hours or so that I notice it. I'll try and record tomorrow if possible but it's similar to the one posted earlier in the thread.

I've also never reset LV/AT in the trucks lifetime unless the 04B04 update did any of that in 2018. So this was also a first.

Put on 60 miles today and I can say shifting has improved greatly and it doesn't thump with each downshift so that's great. Shift points feel PERFECT and the "tip in" feels fantastic compared to 19800. A little more like my 2009 5.7L Tundra of yesteryear. Very happy with that.

I can now merge in to traffic on the highway and it'll hold through 3rd gear all the way to 75 MPH then drop on to 4th/5th etc as I would expect it to. Very pleased with this aspect. Gave it a WOT run 0-75 and it felt GREAT! Smooth and linear.

Just gotta contend with the odd startup at the moment but have no plans to go back to the beta.

I'm not knowledgeable about vehicles, but I'm pretty sure it's not the shift points, other than the shift dance driving me insane. I had the gear locker tune, and this truck just doesn't have the power to stay in the gears and use them like it should.

Thank you. I don't think I did anything to deserve that, but thank you all the same :)

I'm running the 2.0 final and it doesn't gear hunt. It still goes into gears (4-6) earlier than desired, but I'm going to be changing that.
There will be tutorial videos on VfTuner when it releases.
A regear would help with the power cause it would bump up rpm's for each gear.

Us 04B04's are the guinea pig's. After all the minor tweaks are sorted out the 2.0 final will be rolled out to everyone else.

Yeah, that's what I'm afraid of. I had hoped OVTune would be the silver bullet when I bought it last year. Don't get me wrong, it's a vast improvement, but there's only so much he can do with the software I think. Ultimately I think there's a hardware problem too. I'm so disappointed in Toyota as well. I thought I was a Toyota guy for life, but after this I'll probably never buy another one.

Ovtune is definitely a vast improvement over stock. I think the problem is the AT transmission gearing isn't evenly spread out gears, compared to the MT.
I think with a little tweaking with VfTuner the transmission shifting will be on par/better than the 5 speed 4.0's.

I'll see if I can find a diagram

I was under the impression that MTs were geared more appropriately, hence their better performance even factory stock. I figured Toyota was more concerned with MPG and crap on paper, i.e. profits, than how the vehicle actually performed

For the 2016+ Tacomas, the Stock differential gearing (not transmission gearing) it is 3.90.
For 2005-2015 Tacomas, the diff gearing is 3.73.

I believe that is the fact. A majority of their sales would be from the the AT. They had to look good on paper vs the rivals.

The funny thing is I’ve always got better fuel economy in my MT than my AT ever did. At 70 mph I’ll run like 2500 rpm vs the 1800 rpm the AT will attempt. Problem is it doesn’t make enough power to drive at that rpm so it shifts to 4/5.

I honestly have no idea why Toyota have different **transmission** gearing ratios with AT vs MT. They could've kept the same transmission gearing, but swapped the diff gears. I find myself to get pretty good MPG's (20-21) highway.

I’m just saying I didn’t notice anything odd in the video with his start up.

Good comparison. My AT with 4.88’s and 255/75/17 (true 32” tires) is at 2100 rpms at 70mph. If I feather the pedal at this speed it’s 16-19mpg on the bar. However it’s 6th year all day at that speed

same here, but given that I'm still under the 100 mile break in, I'll wait and see.

    2016 V6 AT completely stock.
