How many deer have you hit before having this truck?
Your 2019 Tacoma has probably killed more deer than most hunters lol.

Also I’m impressed how well it held up to an impact more on the side tubes. How hard did you hit it?

I never hit a deer before buying this truck. We actually used to joke around about them dodging all my last Tacos. Karma I guess.

Opinions on how these look or how you guys that have seen much more wheeling than I have think these would preform if I made a set? I would use 2x2 for the main tube and frame supports and 1.5x1.5 for the diamond.

I love how they look but I think they would be a royal pain to make if I decided to. They would be welded to the frame probably because I don’t really want to drill my frame and the only other option is make c channels like in the picture which leaves the top super close to the body and I don’t want it rubbing up there.

Other options would be the 4x round tube HREW or DOM both welded to frame or I could fab up the C pieces to bolt them on and face the same problems as stated above. I’m leaning towards just doing the HREW becuase it is 80$ cheaper and they have a video dropping a 4 runner 18” on them with no significant damage. Thanks for any advice!

My thing is the 4x ones are cheap. I can get the weld on HREW with kick out for 280 shipped. If I’m going to make something it pretty much has to be with square because I don’t have easy access to a bender and square is a lot cheaper than dom tube and similar strength. I think those with the square in diamond orientation look great but it is like 30% weaker oriented like that. I also would be worried about it pushing or pulling me around if a pointy rock is on them. Also holy heck that would be a pain to make.

Just something to consider, if you know somebody with a set of sliders lying around from a manufacturer you might be able to copy the bolt pattern they used to attach and then copy it to a piece of plate and drill it so you dont have to weld to the frame, reverse engineering if you will (if 1st gens dont have the pre drilled and tapped holes please forgive my ignorance, I dont know these trucks inside and out like some of these guys).

Use 2x3 for the main tube arranged 2 wide and 3 tall. Reduces the minimal chassis flex when genuinely sliding on something and that sides weight is all on that tube.

I would honestly get the 4x ones. All those notches would take quite a bit of time to fab.

My avid offroad sliders are weld on and they hold up great. They are a less expensive option like 4x as well.
