abacall nailed it. Sucks but yeah, in multi-use areas it's on you to dial back and be ready to give right of way if a hiker doesn't offer it. I don't ride certain trails at peak times just for that reason. Sucks to put in a big climb just to practically coast the DH because of all the hikers. And yeah, fuck horses!

Dude it's wild, rode for years and years without a dropper, but I don't feel like I can ride at all without one now.

Yep! Dropper on the hardtail is a ton of fun and opens it up to some gnarly stuff. I taco'd the front wheel on mine right after I put the dropper on; forgot it's not my big burly enduro bike and plowed in to a rock garden full speed.

I’m probably older than most of you guys, been riding singletrack as an adult since the ‘80’s (first time with training wheels off was 1962) and the three way right-of-way rules (bikes yield to hikers, everyone yields to horses) have been in place and well publicized since I started. I often don’t like it either, but in fact when hikers jump off the trail or cut a switchback to avoid me, in a sensitive area, that bothers me more than a slow and friendly encounter. And while most equestrians in our area are friendly, polite and in control, the whole concept of having to take extra care around a 1000 lb animal with can kick with steel-shod hooves, and tears up the trail and then poops on it, kinda bugs me. Honestly though, some of my worst encounters have been with other riders. And ALL trails here are multi-use (but non-motorized).

Here’s another reason to keep it under control when sight lines are limited; I encountered this slow trail user the other day. First time I’ve seen one locally.

does anyone know a way to post a video clip, without having to first post it to youtube/instagram/etc?

I have a clip of this encounter but it is not worth uploading anywhere because a big ol doodoo mud spot got on the camera and ruined the whole shot haha

That being said, does anyone have any recommendations to dropper posts? I've ridden KS (no likey), Rockshox Reverb (liked), and Fox Transfers (liked). I've heard a lot about PNW and Bike Yolk but have no experiences with either. I usually just ride what's spec'd with the bike but seeing as I'm kind of building as I go on this one, I need some recommendations.

I’m a fan of my oneup components v2 dropper, I find it hard to believe there is a dropper with a better value. I’ve never ridden a fox or bike yoke though and it’s been a while since I’ve ridden a reverb.

Ive heard good things about the OneUp as well but I've only run Reverb (hot garbage) and Fox Transfer. I have had 4 different Fox Transfers and they have all been flawless.

I'm uploading it "unlisted" on youtube, so I can share it here but it doesn't have to show on my channel lol

Ok here’s the encounter with the hiker. Ignore the mud on the lens...

as you can see we saw each other from plenty far away, hence why I slowed down and also moved OFF the trail for her, but she very last second took a step for me and yelled at me to slow down as she did my buddy that passed her previously.

Quality may take a second to improve cuz YouTube is dumb...it’s filmed in 4K lol

I have a reverb 150 on my hardtail, which I had on my Rallon before. It has always worked without issue, though the remote that came with it isn't my favorite.

The Rallon was upgraded to a oneup 170 and I've been happy with it. Great value! Only complaint is that it doesn't seem to hold air pressure as well as the reverb. I've had to add air once or twice a season, whereas the reverb I just...
