Quick question. I purchased my truck on 3/31 and took the $1,500 rebate. Now that the rebate is $1,750, can I contact my dealer for a price match since I'm within 30 days of purchase or does this sort of thing not apply to rebates?

Hello all, new to the forum and thinking about leaving the Jeep world. I can’t find where it says Pro models are exempt from this %. Are they in fact a no go?

Just some info for you guys that are shopping... Amidst seemingly everyone getting deals of 10%+ off MSRP, not every dealer is willing to sell a Tacoma right now. TRD OffRoad DCSB manual transmission, TRD Premium Package, LED light package, Advances Tech package, Bed lights and All weather mats/sill protectors. MSRP 42652, Invoice is 39336. There's only one of these in the area and the dealer knows it. They refuse to go lower than $40108, so around $770 OVER invoice or 5.9% off MSRP. Other dealers in the area were at least $1000 below that for the same truck but this dealer refuses to do any trades. I asked them to match, not beat, the other dealers' prices and they refused. So despite the economy and lack of sales, some dealers are sticking pretty tight to MSRP.

You might be waiting for awhile for a factory order if they aren't making any. Probably would be better to get one with everything you want from a dealer a little further away.

Not sure if this is supposed to be a public service announcement, a gripe, or what, but you simply move on to another dealer who understands that buyers have disappeared like a fart in the wind. We have shed well north of 25 million jobs in the US thus far, and new vehicle sales are down well over 50%. Patience is the key. The best deals are yet to come.

Read my first sentence. I'm simply sharing info like everyone else is doing on here so other buyers can see what's out there and not every dealer is dropping a new truck in your lap at generous discounts. Yet. But thanks for your input.

So my first inquiry via email and the salesman is already trying to play games.

Trying to say that their listed price includes the cash back offer that started today....even though their listed price is the same as it was last week.

Do a lot of stupid people buy new cars?

I saw no mention of the TRD pro being excluded on Toyota’s website. Dealer sent me a photo of the sheet they got emailed saying it’s excluded.

Go to toyota.com and click on local specials, then click on tacoma. You will find what I posted above.

Call him out on it and shame him into giving you a better deal because of it. Or maybe talk to a manger and ask to work with a different salesperson and point it out to see if it gives you some leverage. Tell them you'll move on to a different dealer if they keep it up. Be prepared to actually do so if they do.

I don't see the Pro being excluded on the 0% interest but it is excluded on the cash back.

The message i sent him back should let him know he's not dealing with your average bear. His response will warrant whether I do business there or not. the truck is sweet, but I can find something else. White Sport Acess cab with manual. Their 'internet price', whatever that is...is showing $34,654 and includes...well...unsure which discounts or fees it includes as there is no price breakdown.

Good luck! I know not every salesperson is like that, hopefully most aren't, but there sadly is a reason the sleazy car salesman stereotype exists...

One would think that in these times they'd be happy to get a sale at all, let alone trying to stick with their little gimmicks and tricks for extra profit.

If there was *ever* a buyer's market...we are currently in it. In fact, that's the only reason I'm even considering a new one.

It's important to remember that just a couple months ago, sales were brisk. This was the most abrupt u-turn the economy has ever taken, in history. Psychology is sometimes slow to adjust. There is little doubt that many of these salespeople and dealerships are still stuck in those times, and are still trying the same tactics that worked so well for them just a short time ago. I hear every day that people are expecting a quick bounce back. There's a lot of denial out there. But as time ticks away, reality will settle in with all, eventually.
