My 2000 Frontier came with a separate window sticker that boiled it down to the half-percent. Apparently the speaker cones came from Bangledesh on that truck. For shits and giggles, I wish new cars still came with that sticker...

Thought the production plants were either Mexico or Texas. Do they make Tacomas in the Republik of CA?

As far as individual components.. Who knows.. (and who cares tbqh)

I would agree with the consensus of at least 6.5. My truck was built in San Antonio, TX though.

    So maybe 7

Assembled and manufactured are different things. If you go by how much has touched Chinese hands... resistors, gauge needles, hog rings, and not the entire assembly as a single item I can guarantee you that more than 60% is from China. Let’s take the gauges for example. Let’s just say they are from japan. Do you think Japan made the housing? The needle? The circuit board? The glass? Nope. They may make one or two parts of that gauge but China made most of those parts. Japan bought the parts and made them into a gauge. America assembles things but it rarely manufactures things.

Back in 2001 after the terrorist attacks I was working in a shipping port. Every day crushed cars were being delivered. You know the way Christine looked at the end of the film. Well those crushed cars were loaded on to a cargo ship and sent to Mexico. Once there those cars were melted and turned back into steel ingots, bars rods etc. They were then sent back to the USA to make more cars. I mean we can’t even be bothered to melt our own steel.

true dat.... But only if you got the blinker fluid reservoir option and the air recycler canister for the tires so that the air in the tires doesn’t get stale.

1st gens were assembled at the Nummi plant in California. 2nd gens, depending on the year & type, were assembled in either California, Texas or Mexico. The individual parts for all these trucks come from all over the damn place....

I stopped by the original Coffeehouse location today; There are “No trespassing” and “No public access” signs everywhere, so I didn’t even roll down the window to take a picture; Right about where the silver minivan is parked is where I parked my Tacoma three days after we bought it, so all the staff and other members could come out and take a look...

If you look on the right, you will see the air-conditioners...

Coffeehouse was in operation at this location from the summer of 2008 to the summer of 2010; Back then, cooling was handled by four York air-conditioners that were no newer than 1998, so they were already at least ten years old by the time the Coffeehouse started...

I drove by every so often just to see what had become of the place, and if I remember correctly, all four York units were still there until at least 2016 (possibly later)...

This was the first time I’d been there since probably 2018, and on the drive there I was wondering if any of the York units were still there; Rather unsurprisingly, all of them were gone, replaced by these four Trane units...

The heating system in the building was a big oil boiler with four separate zones. The building is a converted barn, and I don’t know when it was converted, but since the York units were mid to late 1990s and I think they were installed at the time of conversion, that gives you a pretty good idea!

The back of the building; That ductless mini-split unit is installed right about where the kitchen would be, which makes sense because even the 4-zone central A/C could not keep up with the heat generated by the kitchen at times...

My current situation unfortunately reminds me of how things were 12 years ago...

It honestly seems like a lifetime ago! In April 2008, I did not have a driver's license and my social life was virtually nonexistent; I was in a special education program run by an immature pompous ass, and when I wasn't in his miserable class I was whittling away my days playing The Sims 2 on my laptop or [Insert name of car-related video game here] on PS2. If this pandemic had occurred exactly twelve years ago, I would have been relishing every bloody moment of it!

Now, I have a driver's license, a Tacoma, and a job; I miss hopping in my truck every morning, driving to work with Preston and Steve on the radio, and shooting the shit with my coworkers. I guess what really sucks here is that back then I was a lazy-ass recluse by my own choice; Now, I am being forced into it by circumstances beyond my control!

    :annoyed:

Should I just keep my truck indefinitely? I have no plans to sell it right now, and my goal is to not buy a new vehicle until I can afford to pay cash...
