Switching topics on ya, just wanted to clarify from earlier, only the lower line entry level of Warn winches are made in China.

"Warn's non-VR winches are assembled in Oregon with some globally sourced parts. They continue to manufacture substantial parts of their winches at the Oregon factory, like machining cases and gears. The Warn VR line is fully made in China."

Superwinch is another brand that I wouldn't have a problem running on my vehicles

You mean those things I carry just to show the highway patrol on the way up the mountain, and never actually have to put on?

They got bought out, not sure who owns em anymore. I had a superwinch though, it was good. Never let me down at least. The only big badass brand still left is Ramsey from what iv heard

Ya'll know I'm just joking around. The counterfeit quality problem may come back to haunt us all over time. Its getting harder to identify the counterfeits. I just hope they don't decide to start printing dollars. Oh wait......

Honestly if they didn't/don't clear, I'd rather just cut and make them fit. Will need to someday for bigger tires anyway

True, but same factory doesn't always mean same quality. Like the bilstein shocks on TRD tacomas. Yes, they're bilsteins, but they're obviously very different from the ones you buy aftermarket. Same factory (presumably), but different manufacturing requirements.

Hell, you can have different quality coming form the same line. All the qa/qc rejects go in one pile and still get sold for cheaper.

They're a quality manufacturer as well. At least they were when they made their own winches. Forgot about Ramsey. Haven't seen that name in a while
The ultimate would be an old school Warn 8274

That's for the info bro. I have no winch knowledge. I just know I see people like to display a red WARN badge on their Dissent bumper. LOL.. Brand awareness.

In my application it’s fine. They’re 100% better than the 40 year old brittle plastic connectors I pull out of the clunkers.

The 8274 are cheap around here. People let em go because they don't fit anywhere. They're huge and not that powerful, they just last well.

oh totally. didn't mean to imply otherwise. For most stuff it doesn't really mater.

I thought the highest tier was chains required if you didn't have 4wd. Does California SP require chains in every vehicle?

Up here there's basically 3 levels
    - traction tires advised
    - traction tires required except 4wd
    - chains required except 4wd

This is true and a valid point.
It's like Toyota branded parts and Denso parts. All of the Toyota labeled Denso parts are manufactured to the spec Toyota requires. But not every single Denso part application will meet Toyota spec.
I may get torn up for saying this but it is an honest opinion/observation, Denso isn't the same NipponDenso 'made in Japan' parts maker I fell in love with back in the 90s and early 2000s

How long has it been since any of you guys ran a radiator with brass tanks? I can't even remember.. I'm sure it was a long time ago for me.

This is a Koyorad brass tanker.

If the snow is bad enough, even if you have 4wd you have to show them that you're carrying chains. I've never been made to put them on though
