Anyone have a suggestion for a phone mount? I know we want to get away from our phones when we ride but Id like to have a sturdy mount for my phone when I'm riding

Anyone have an opinion on the Race Face Turbine R wheelset? Or the Vault hub in general? I can't find specifics on the rim (other than 30mm internal, 20mm height, 28 hole) but the wheelset is listed at 1730g (27.5) so they must be fairly light rims. Looking for a general idea of durability and quality.

I put my phone and ID in my camelback water pack. Do most of you not wear packs?

I still wear a pack. Camelback MULE NV. It's got a few years on it but nothing wrong with it at all.

I do think a lot of riders are going to fanny packs and bottles to keep the weight and sweat off your back. I'm not sure how I feel about this movement.

Wife and I have gone fanny and love it.

Occasionally I go packless and just put a bottle and spare parts on the bike, but for most rides I use a dakine hot laps 5L. It's got a 2L water bladder and enough room for jackets, spares, tools, etc for all day rides. I've had no issues using that as my only pack, even on rides like the whole enchilada.

Speaking of dirty bikes, just swapped out the stock handlebars, stem and seat collar for the i9 stem, race face next bars, and deity collar. Not a perfect match but I dig it. I think I need i9 hubs now

Any problems with the hydration hose falling?
My camelback has a 3L bladder and I never use more than maybe half of that.

Nope, the magnet works pretty well. I've also not had any issues reaching it while riding or putting it back on my hip.

The only annoyance I've had with the pack is that you have to tighten the waist belt throughout the ride. As you drink water and the bladder shrinks, it gets a bit loose, but I've also been able to do that while I ride without much trouble.

I should add that I keep a spare tube, CO2, tire lever and multi-tool in a mutherload strap on my frame. That definitely frees up some space in the pack for snacks on longer rides.

I've got the OneUp EDC tool in my steer tube and everything else is in my camelbak. If I made the jump to a fanny pack, I'd go ahead and stap a tube to the bike. I'd aim to keep only my personal belongings to the fanny pack (phone, wallet, keys).

I've got an REI dividend I do need to spend...

not really sad, out of sight out of mind. Phones are great to have for emergencies or issues that pop up, but handlebar mounts remind me of early 2000s gps units. Keep your eyes forward, enjoy the ride and everything around you. Keep the phone in your pocket if you need it.

additionally, have you all heard of the crash app?

I carry a mule also, I also have a smaller pack that the wifey uses or if I’m on a shorter ride. Easy to pack water, snacks, keys, tube, tire patch kit, and multi tool. I carry some master links too just in case, and a spare derailler hanger when I’m far from home. Phone goes in my pocket

I have the same bum bag and I don’t like the weight with any more than liter or so of water. So counterintuitive, but I wear the Dakine fanny pack in the winter with tools in and a bottle on the frame, but once it warms up and I need more water I swap back to my Osprey Raptor 10.

    Hehe, bum bag!

Admittedly, I don't carry more than a liter of water very often. I do recall feeling like it was a bit much with 2 liters, but I personally still prefer it to a backpack.

I was a hydration pack every ride type for years. Last year I started playing around with ditching the pack and oh man it's nice! I got the smaller Dakine fanny pack, but find I often don't need it and still haven't gotten used to the weight on my waist.

One bottle on frame, tube on frame, pump on frame (plan to go to OneUp pump/tool kit), multitool/keys in one pocket, phone in the other pocket. I could easily throw a couple of these in the fanny pack and keep it light. I'm still taking a pack if it's longer than a one bottle ride though.

I've read nothing but good things about the Vault hubs, NSMB has done a couple reviews in various stages of owning them with lots of praise. I think RaceFace makes quality stuff other than their carbon cranks.
