I'm starting to get tired of "trading".. especially in this market. Too much to keep up with. I'm gonna sit out for a bit and use my Fidelity account to actually "invest" in the long run AKA buy and forget. Halliburton has a pretty good dividend..

The day that I realized I wasn’t watching the gas pump and figured “well might as well just fill it up”

I’m not rich but I’m comfortable and I fully recognize that position.

my levels are comfortable is my method of not watching the gas pump and just let er rip. Rich is when you use summer as a verb.

Oh I got burned as well. I was playing with pennies while deployed and lost big time.

It was for reference on dividend payers, but EVERYONE needs to do their DD.

My ROTH and 401k are my fire and forget players.

I think I'm gonna be a cheap bastard no matter how much money I have. At least with certain things (except trucks, guns, guitar shit, other hobby related things).. but everything else? Gimme the store brand!!

I have a few shares of HAL.

If set it and forget is kind of your goal, look into etfs like VTI.

I plan on getting out of oil, when the ppb doubles from where it is today. I won't stay long.

I am comfortable but still go to the Save a Lot for groceries, etc etc. I’m in the same boat. I have a small ranch house and don’t want a big colonial monstrosity. I would like a basement and we will probably eventually move to a different house. Not necessarily nicer, but either different area or maybe with a basement and a two car garage, so there’s a little bit more I would like long term. But for now, no need for luxury cars or fancy brand mayonnaise!

I never filled that USO order but my plan was to set a limit sell at 10 bucks and not second guess if it went up beyond that.

I've been toying with the idea of buying a 2005-2006 Lexus LS430.. that's about as deep into the "luxury" market as I'll be getting LOL. Just need to keep an eye on some local estate sales

The part about retiring is you will probably need more income than while working. You’ll have an extra 8 hours a day to kill, and that probably isn’t cheap!

yeah I’m not so focused on the what with retirement. I’ll fine something to do. I’m focused on the when. Hoping to retire even early like 55 or so. I’m only 27 I have 40 more years until the new normal retirement age, which is why I want to cut and run early though. DINK right now helps at least.

...when I no longer counted the days to pay day...when I no longer remembered what day was payday...when I no longer needed to transfer money to checking after pay day...when I noticed that I really didn't care if my boss was asking for more output óut of me.

If I can produce more, I will, if I can't, deal with it.

I read that and pictured a guy named Hoyt summering in the Catskills for some sailboat racing.

I feel like the accented "O" in out has some particular meaning here... hmm...

But seriously that feeling must be incredible.

That's my biggest fear. That block of time.

I've always had a side gig. But I've always been limited on the time I can spend on the side gig because of main job.

Is my very enjoyable side gig going feel like work if put more time into it than I ever have?

Scares the shit out of me.

Note:as I said before, I don't think anyone in this thread will "retire". We just change where the money comes from.

Exactly, when you no longer have to work for money, and are still being productive, I’d expect the potential for income you never expected. At least I hope it works out that way.
