To be fair....the other truck hit front 1st. Modern crumple zones are designed to do just what his vehicle did. Swap places with him and it would be the Tacoma with the mashed face.

Glad you're good OP. Hope you get your rig back on the road soon. Make sure they comp you for diminished value. That's owed to you as the CarFax will haunt your truck from now on.

Can’t get diminished value on my insurance can I? The dumb ass that hit me didn’t have insurance.

    Oh know. :(

I would certainly push for it either way. Your vehicle's value was lowered through no fault of yours

I’m gonna bet that you’re totaled! I had a rear ender last November, just needed a new rear bumper, new tailgate, new interior box and a new frame. Cost estimate is $15,500 and I don’t have my truck back yet. I expect to get it back next week, but it took a long time for Toyota to get a new frame to my shop! You should follow up on taking this driver to court, not just for diminished value, but car rental should they not total your truck & and your deductible.

Insurance hasn’t totaled yet. Don’t imagine they will for 13K but you’re right. May be worth taking to court for diminished value.

You might want to look at wreckcheck.com. I ran across a recommendation here on TW for them, but since my truck has not been repaired yet I have not committed to them yet. Their website will give you an estimate of how much diminished value you might realize. But they are a set of attorneys that specialize in this area. Should be able to help in other ways. I’m going to run it by my attorney first. But I’ve heard that diminished value is hard to prove.

Looks like the front of his truck slide under your truck. If so probably lessened some of the impact. Might of been been a lot more damage to your truck had your truck been at stock height

Yeah I definitely think that is the case. I am going to take their word that there is no frame damage. I would hope they have no reason to lie.

Actually if it slide under the frame instead of plowing into it it would sustain less damage. Although I could see it perhaps flexing or twisting some. Must be what happened in order for the bed to hit the cab. The Tacoma frame isn’t extremely ridged and made to flex so perhaps it is perfectly fine like they said. I believe them. They probably straighten frames and replace frame fairly often. Also it’s more money and work for them to put a truck on a frame machine or do a swap so they have no reason to lie.
