Really? What about the SS? Also, wasn't the original Z28 a 302 to comply with homologation guidelines or something?

No AC with ZL1 or COPO as well. But you could get them with the automatic or 4 speed.

I think the high revving 302 was the reason for no AC as it would chuck the belt, plus they didn't want to slow them down.

Yup, 305 cubic inch limit. So Chevy came up with the 302 and Ford had their 302 as well.

I saw a 1969 COPO at a car show I believe last year, and the owner was amazed that a millennial knew exactly what it was right off the bat...

Also, your truck looks like a 2012 RC 5-speed 4x4 I drove last year!

Was it true that people didn't order the 1970 LS6 Chevelle with A/C, and if they had to have A/C they got the 396?

No AC with the LS6 either, you had to get the LS5. You couldn't get AC with the solid lifter motors (396/375 hp SS as well).

How much horsepower was the LS5? Did the LS6 at least come with heat?

LS5 was 390 hp with a hydraulic lifter cam. Yes, heat was standard.

That's what I probably would have gone if I'd ordered on of those new back in the day; I drive a Tacoma with crank windows so I'm not terribly picky about creature comforts, but I've gotta have A/C!

Also, I've been told that it was technically possibly to order a Chevelle SS with an open rear; Quite why anybody would want to do this I do not know, but I've been told that a posi rear was an extra cost option even on the Chevelle 454 SS...

My uncle who did my wheel skins had an ERA 1967 replica and I got to ride in once before he sold it; He even had a stereo system in it and let me play Meat Loaf, though the engine was so loud there wasn't much of a point! :headbang:
