Yup. A common item especially at the auto parts stores.

That was pretty easy but the hard part is routing the hose to where I want it to be to avoid the exposed exhaust area.

You wonder why Toyota hasn't fixed this yet, great thread. I'm doing this for sure on the weekend.

How in the bloody hell do you remove the plastic clips that hold the black flaps on to reach the hose?

Edit: So I found out how to remove them, pull harder. Best time to work on a truck is the day after you buy it, less hassle. Works as described by others on here.

    LED's so far :-/
I just had a thought on this...Perhaps the outlet is short in an attempt to prevent too much debris like mud getting into the line? If your hose is sticking out through the bottom of the frame, you'd probably be inspecting it more often especially after a day on the trail. If mud gets in there and dries up, you'll probably have to take the hose off and clean it out.

It wasn't that bad I just had never done it before. Just pull and they'll come out.

just did mine. took about 15-20 minutes. here are some tips i can give after my experience.

    1) turn the wheel all the way to the left (towards driverside) to give yourself clearance in the wheel well.
    2) to remove the two tabs, with your right hand, reach around behind the tab and you'll feel two notches. while pinching the notches from behind, with your left hand, pull the flap/tabhead towards you to clear the metal sidewall.
    3) i opted to install factory hose all the way into the 5/8'' hose, but the factory hose has some play in it, so with your index finger and thumb, hold the factory hose, with your other 3 fingers, scoot the 5/8'' hose up as far as you can.

after installation, i turned on my truck + AC full blast, and water immediately came out. goodluck all! and thank you OP for posting this fix!

Just did mine yesterday. Thanks for the great mod!

I found it easier to go through the engine bay, standing on something to get extra reach down in there. I also slid the heater hose very high up on the OE hose. Very simple. I also fooled around with the clips under the wheel well for a while, but in the end didn't use that access point because going through the top worked better for me.

Advance Auto Parts wouldn't sell me 25" of hose without buying by the foot, so I bought 36" and installed the entire hose, clamped it at the top, then just slid under the truck to zip-tie the hose to the frame then cut off the excess. I ended up using about 26" total.

Great mod! Thanks OP and to everyone else for the tips.

Ain't it a lot easier to just coat that section of the chassis where it drips on the frame with some cosmoline rust inhibiter?

Stock wheels and suspension. Random "utilitarian" mods featured on this great forum.
Did this with $4 worth of 5/8 heater hose in about 30 min (cheaper than a can of Fluid Film or CRC). Routed and tied a bit differently than in original post but idea is the same.

Free tip: Use some silicone grease (dielectric) to make the heater hose slide easier then clamp it to existing one.
