Roof Top Tent mounted on the roof of the truck??

    Is anyone running a roof top ten mounted on the actual roof of the truck. Or is it even possible to run a RTT on the roof? Im looking into getting a RTT but only if I can mount it on the roof of the truck. The reason being is that I still want to have the option of hauling my ATV on the bed of the truck, and not needing a trailer for it.

    You can most definitely mount a roof top tent on the roof. Just install a rack

    You’ll still need a rack on your roof. I don’t believe you can mount a RTT directly on the roof without a rack.

    Something like a Prinsu rack would probably let you do it. They have flat crossbars and are pretty solid.

    Prinsu or Frontrunner will work. But expect your mpg to drop 3-4 and it'll be a little top heavy. I've ran a lot of RTT's on the rear without an issue.

    I'd buy a little trailer for the ATV and a bedrack for the tent.

    Prinsu. Have the tepui lo pro 2 it’s only 8 inches high wind drag isn’t bad.

    Ideally I would want to get a bed rack however, I don't want to be hauling my ATV on a trailer.

    how do you like the lopro? have any pictures of it mounted or in use? ive searched for some vids but its not as popular. any complaints? i did read that one side cinches down a bit more than the other? is that an issue with yours?

    One side is 2 inches taller yes. No complaints quality is good. Mattress is soft and comfy

    I ran mine up front on my Prinsu Rack until my Dissent Offroad bed rack was finished being made and installed. Worked fine, though I wouldn't want to run with it like that all the time. The wind drag was much worse and my mileage suffered for it.
