Worked fine on my Pioneer and my sony. The dimmer wire in the stereo harness is 12v +, it's just a trigger so the stereo can dim itself

if you wire them to the rehostat some radios are great for blowing the fuse

You cannot wire them to the rheostat, it's impossible unless you hack in some shitty wiring yourself. No radio harness will provide a lighting - wire... it's not a thing. Wiring the orange dimmer wire of a radio circuit yourself to a dimmer is just a short, it would blow in any ground side dimmed car and wiring it to a positive one would do nothing since they're the same leg of a circuit. What point are you trying to make?

every car that has come in to the dealer has the idiot wiring the orange wire to the illumination wire for the dash. thats what i assume everyone trys doing. i do know that its meant for a 12v signal saying to dim. i have no clue where you get that wire on a toyota, the dimmer wire to the radio from the factory runs through the rheostat is all im saying

ive had to explain to many people how their radio is causing their blown fuses more than a few times.

There are no adapters that use the toyota harness side's lighting negative (goes to dimmer), they all put that orange wire to lighting + and leave lighting negative open. The toyota dash harness has both pos and neg for the lighting circuit in it. How many customers do you have cutting off the factory connector and wiring it themselves? That's the only scenario in which this can happen. Every metra or scosche or what have you brand off the shelf will come correctly, I've used one of those basic patch cables on at least 10 toyotas, they always only utilize lighting + and it always works... won't dim with the rheostat, but that's because a modern stereo only needs that 12+ as a trigger so it knows to dim.

well 90% of the people coming in that did their own install and have issue were indeed cutting the OE wires.

Why anyone does that when a harness adapter is less than $10 we shall never know. Even the fancy newer toyota adapter with 3 connectors is only $12.

Just send em to a stereo shop or collect it as side work later and wire the stereo yourself.
