I’m sure they’re not the only ones, but both Ibis and Santa Cruz Bikes are CNC cutting facemasks here in town and donating them to Santa Cruz County 1st responders. Sorry it’s a Facebook link but I assume everyone here can see it.

I don’t use FB, I didn’t see it. That’s awesome though, I know Industry 9 was volunteering their machines and personnel to make ventilator parts of anyone needed them, thought that was cool too.

I should clarify, these are plastic face shields, not fabric or paper masks. Some other articles I’ve read show that they’re typically an assembly of a frame, which is normally injection molded but can be 3D printed, and a clear lens normally die cut and formed from sheet plastic, but can also be CNC cut. Throughput is pretty quick so even without molds and hard tooling, output can be 1000/day.

I am a paramedic in Los Angeles. My agency bought up 3 3D printers and designed face shields and are printing them nonstop for all of the local hospitals and other Smaller agencies. Same basic design

Cant wait to use this bad boy. Fox 34 Float Performance
    New Fork.jpg

When i was taking my fork off yesterday i noticed the aluminum inside my Headtube had some gashes in it as if aluminum to aluminum had rubbed against each other. There was no marks anywhere on the top tube of my old fork so im a little confused as to why or what made that happen. Obviously not a big deal just curious lol.

It’s hard to tell cause of the grease but are you referring to the flaky looking bits inside the actual head tube?

Yeah the flakey looking parts But they feel more like gashes/metal rubbing to me... or is that just oxidation over time? lol

Yeah it looks kind of like paint flaking with oxidation but the closer I look the more I see what you’re saying about some sort of rubbing. It kind of looks like a punch was hitting it. Its hard to say.

My understanding of aluminum is that it’s typically going to oxidize on the surface but underneath it will be fine, not like rust so I don’t think it should actually remove any material.

I wouldnt worry about whats inside the head tube. When you install the fork just clean up the headset interfaces. I'm sure you were already going to.

This was my last alloy SJ:

Yeeaah, that ones on you buddy. Personally slow down way more than that, and such a thin trail with little room for her to get off trail I’d almost be standstill. I get it, working for the flow only to have it broken up sucks.

Muc off a couple times a month. I like keeping the bike clean, and looking it over when I wash it. Keeping the cleaner off areas with bearing as much as possible. Just light water pressure there and a rag to clean those spots.

27.5? I have a damn near new Hope 35W wheelset, orange pro4 hubs in your budget. Want some pics/info?

Same. Hip pack with about 1 liter max in bladder. Days I need more I throw a bottle on the frame in addition. One up pump with edc tool on frame, lightweight tube, zip ties, sunscreen, keys, goggle wipe, punch and plug in the bag. Still plenty of room for a lightweight jacket too.

Do you use the whole Muc Off system or just specific cleaners?

I just ran out of drivetrain degreaser this week, so I ordered up the Muc off drivetrain spray bottle to give it a try. Seems like most of the reviews are sponsored so it was tough finding a real report, which might be due to it being almost twice as expensive as the Finish Line or Pedros I have been using. I have the Park brush set and just use car wash for regular cleaning of the frame and wheels, but would try a dedicated cleaner if there was good reason or unsponsored reviews.

I dont know a lot about servicing suspension. I have 2000 miles on my FOx 36 Fit4. Lower leg service has been done twice in that time by my LBS. Lately I have noticed more arm pump and seems to have less small bump sensitivity. Can the damper be serviced and it it worth it? Should I just throw a new Grip 2 Damper in ($300) and do another LL Service? Other options?

I have this wheel set on my FS and I’m pretty happy with it. They are light and I can’t remember the exact number but I'm happy with the engagement. They have a good sound to them, not loud like my i9 set on my HT but not silent either. I don’t really send it on trails, but I bought them used from a guy who did, and even with some imperfections and dents on the wheels, no issues with seating tubeless tires. I dropped at least 1-2lbs when switching to this set over my diamondback stock wheel set, those things were bricks!

edit: I looked it up and it’s 3 deg engagement
