I would guess the Craig`s List is A36 as well that is pretty common in my part of the country.

anything rare would be more expensive and it would be noted

 

Oh my goodness I have a strong new hatred for mill scale. What a pain that was to clean up the wings (while keeping them smooth). Took forever. she’s done though, ready for paint.

 

I posted a picture on here last weekend about my 3" grinder I mounted on my TIG cart. Thought it was an idea worth sharing. At that time, I said I was going to "tap into one of the legs coming into my welder". Well, I sorta did that, but had a last minute panic attack: 2.5 years of warranty remaining.

As I started to cut into the cord feeding the rear of the welder that conversation with a Primeweld customer service rep snapped into my head..." it didn't cause the welder to fail, it's just a little 3"grinder...it pulls virtually no amperage away from the welder...I only use it when the welder is off...".

I put a temporary tap at the ext cord plug and ran a separate cord to an outlet for the grinder. Not pretty, but it will serve until July 2022 when the warranty expires and I can make a little cleaner approach.

Still real happy with the idea though. It's a little slower grinding tips than my belt sander, but right where I need it. And, I'll be much less tempted to contaminate it with other grinding needs.

I even have an extra outlet for the 4" handheld to grind down my shitty welds!

 

The way you were going to wire it first and they way you ended up doing so are the very same all you did was add another device to the circuit .

Not much difference then using a leg inside the machine to pull 120VAC to install a outlet to run a cooler customers do it all the time .

This is on name brand machines I can`t say about yours .

Any how it is done.

 

Some seems to be much worse then others .

I hear stories it is so bad it needs to be removed to get a decent weld on jobs bid really tight it can mean being in the red.

 

If im reading that right, that is Abrasion resistant iron. It's gonna be expensive. It's the same thing back how buckets are made of.

 

I've often thought about adding a bottle opener for things used away from home. After giving it some thought, I can never think of times we don't drink canned beverages. Bottles are an excessive hassle to deal with. I end up skipping a bottle opener.

 

Do you have any more pictures of this bike rack? looks like it's part of a 1up.

 

I'm assuming your buddy lives somewhere where everything is expensive. I paid $3.60/gal for gas yesterday. I didn't realize it until it was too late. The sign posted in the front said $2.10/gal for regular. I assumed premium was also lower. When I bought my tacoma, my local dealers were selling them at $10k above MSRP. I bought a one way plane ticket and flew to SC (700 miles away) and got one below MSRP.

 

I realize it's the same circuit, bit I was afraid if I had to send the machine back, and they saw I had tapped into the power cord ON THE MACHINE, they would have used that as a way to deny my warranty.

Also I didn't want to open the case and tie into power inside, for fear they might be able to tell I had the case open. Plus, how to get it out of the case...hole?

After warranty, I'll probably just cut the power cord and route that one leg through the receptacle box.

Going with the plug welding from the back side ensured the gear rack would not "pull". I know that the rack will be perfectly parallel to the table.

In addition, the 1/8" space the flat takes up allows me to have 100% contact with spur gear.

 

That pic makes it look tipped, it's not.
