Team O’Neil posted a pretty good TRD Off-road review.

Its so strange. I had a 2019 4Runner TRD Pro in Voodoo Blue, and people were saying that I could have bought the off road version and put better suspension on it for less. Well yeah, but I wouldn't be able to get it in Voodoo Blue.

Now, one of my friends said I could have gotten a Gladiator or Wrangler or some other truck instead of my Tacoma, and it would have been a better deal. In my case, thats absolutely not true. I work for Toyota Corporate, the employee discount is insane.

Whenever I turned left in a keyed vehicle the keychain would gently brush up against my knee. I find that sensation icky and disturbing.

Keyless FTW, for a clean and totally not creepy ride.

Don’t like the OR, don’t buy it. Don’t like the SR/SR5, don’t buy it. Don’t like to argue with strangers on the web, don’t do it. Have a great day everyone and go out and try to enjoy your trucks!

I do not know why the guy in the video made a big deal about the mud flaps. You can take them off and put them back on.

TRD Exhaust, Mobtown bolt on sliders and aluminum tailgate reinforcement, Reverse lights changed to yellow turn signals, LED pods added for reverse, ADD W1 oil catch can, Total Chaos bed reinforcement, rear diff breather to taillight mod, 12" combo led bars behind lower grill wired to high beams, Toyota led bed light kit, 400 watt anytime mod, SSO slimeline front bumper.

I agree with almost everything you're saying. I bought a manual off road, so it came with ATRAC. I've used this a few times and it's let me pull a boat over dry sand around stuck trucks a few times. But most people probably don't do that sort of thing. I'm happy they still offer a manual transmission with the off road features.

Wyatt was actually my best friend's college roommate. Pretty decent guy, but at the time my friend and I were too into Hondas to pay attention to the rally stuff he was into. This was dumb, especially since we both ended up in Subarus after college, he a WRX Wagon with more boost than it should have had and myself an STi. My friend used to joke he should have stayed closer to him so we could have gotten into the Team O'Neill stuff for super cheap.

He bumped into him a few years back at the NEFR and Wyatt remembered him which was pretty cool.

None of this is relevant to the video, just neat to see people I know.

I prefer the TRDOR black interior (vs the SR5 50 shades of grey), wheels/tires, and black fender flares. I would have liked a keyed ignition like the SR5.
In 2020 the price difference between a SR5 and TRDOR was about $1,750. IMO, money well spent. I'm keeping mine close to stock.

FWIW I had an SR. About as base as it gets 5MT 4cylinder...I now have an OR 6MT...it is absolutely worth every extra penny. In my comparison it’s about a 9k difference. Get what you can afford and don’t complain or judge others for what they decide to buy.

Funny...it's the little things. IF you're talking about the interior plastic trim...I'm not talking about the seats, carpet, etc. This is actually one of the biggest reasons I went with the OR. That "light grey" color of the interior plastic trim of all models except the OR was a no go for me.

Pretty sure the OR has a bigger more robust rear axle and diff.

All TRDs have the dark headliner. The real wtf combo is the Limited - dark pillars, light headliner.

By the way, I can be at a red light and see your light colored pillars from across the intersection. Damn straight I'm silently judging you....

I like crawl control and I'm happy it's on my truck. There have been 2 times now in the 6 months I've owned my truck that crawl control has gotten me over an obstacle here in the rockies. It's not a gimmick by any means.

The colorado z71 comes with crappy ATs too. I do think they should have put some real ATs on the pros though.

If they put the hood scoop on the TRD OR then no one would buy the Sport. END.OF.STORY

    Pass.

Initially I went forward with the intent to purchase a pro. Until I saw that 1) it only came in a 4 door 2) it had a moonroof (the fuck?) and the only one I had a chance of getting wasn’t in a manual. Afford isn’t the issue.

I will continue to complain about the demographic that is ruining trucks for truck enthusiasts, on the internet, because I don’t subscribe to the corny “don’t judge what others buy” thing. We’re on a message board. The sad part is that the new demographic does’nt even know they are doing it, they just justify...”but what about my arm full of groceries” lol

Cool... Because I blame you for why it took 20 years for a Tacoma to come with leather and electric seats. This whole gate keeper mentality of this forum is laughable. If you like the utilitarian nature of Tacoma's of yore... that's great, but clearly the market disagrees with you. Toyota is out there to make money. If they see a market for the truck, they're going to exploit it. Toyota has no altruistic intent of making the "Worlds best off-road vehicle"... they're making money.

They're more than happy to not take yours, if they can take it from 20 other people. There's nothing wrong with someone wanting luxury with their off-road truck. The two realms, luxury and off-road are not mutually exclusive any more.

Maybe a Frontier will be in your future. Sounds like it's right on par for what you want.
