If you have COVID-19, and get hit by a bus, are they counting that as a COVID-19 death? I have heard they might be. That's pure politics, which I definitely won't get into here.

The issue is those skewed numbers are justifying burning down the economy and livelihoods. This is going to get baaaaaaaaaaaaad for the economy if this drags out for another month, like no food on the shelves bad.

I'm gonna say, in a vacuum, and nothing is perfect, always change your skivs, don't try this while at home, etc, that the economic hit would have been less if we had social distance "rules", private washing rules, etc if we would not done the whole stay at home routine and just faced the damned virus....

I think (almost sure) that sometime during the next week is when the shutdown begins creating more negative impact than the virus has in the northeast. Everything within 2hr drive of NYC mostly survives off of business in the city or servicing and providing goods for the people that commute there. All the coastline survives off of people hitting the boats/beaches or providing goods and services to the people that make money off the tourism. I've tried my best to be optimistic but i don't see how shutting all that down is sustainable in any way

I'm keeping my fingers crossed the lack of tax money incoming allows a return to work. Obviously resturaunts and bars would be impacted, but smaller stores and manufactuers deemed "non essential" can get back productive again. It's a workplace problem that can be solved relatively easily especially if some regulatory parameters are put forth.

In with ya, buuut we also have some very dumb entrepreneurs out there, look at the food industry getting shut down right now because they cant control the spread inside the plant.

What I learned over the years is you have to stroke the egos of the ones in charge, weather that's your shift supervisor all the way up to the very top. So you gotta make then feel like they are doing something LOL!! I'm working on some back to work checklists and parameters for future clients. Bu really compared to other workplace hazards, this one is fairly easy to contain.

I would think the shut down of the economic engine and how to restart it would be very relevant no?

Back to "BRO I just bought 10,000 shares of carnival cruise lines in my Robin hood account I opened yesterday!!!!!!" 50 like button hits :D. Hey get economic theory out of the investment thread, report button hit 50times.

I'm hoping for the same. Also agree it couldn't be too hard to safely open most places. It's kinda wack as it is because places like home depot and lowes just limit customer #'s and have lexan windows in front of the registers and that's good enough. But then all these little stores like even smaller hardware stores suddenly have to be closed or curbside pickup only

I think I'm going to start doing some research on the players in the robotics industry, I have a feeling on the other side of this that business will POP! there may be some discounted shares out there. Who ever figures out how to automate a supply chain or a lot of manual manufacturing will have a nice upper hand over the competition.

There's also the reverse - let's take India for example so we stay out of US politics.

If there's very low testing per capita, how many COVID19 related deaths are occuring that aren't being counted? Where there's much higher testing per capita, does that create a reverse effect?

    https://ourworldindata.org/grapher/full-list-cumulative-total-tests-per-thousand

... and then there's the whole path where some researchers are suggesting a FAR higher non-symptomatic infection rate through the population.

Colorado opens back up Saturday so hopefully we keep from crashing back down at least locally.

Edit: but not that it really matters as no one in northern colorado payed attention to the shutdown anyways. Stores and roads are just as busy as usual only now people wear facemasks
