All about that gatekeeping. If you don’t pass the smell test, we don’t kick it.

fuck the market. And power seats.

The market is dominated by the domesticated who clearly need minivans. It needs to be said.

I agree. I wish the Hood Scoop was on the OR and Pro and they did away with the SPORT. Honestly whats different between the sport and the SR5 lol. The Sport is kind of a worthless package.

Welp, I'm certainly one of them... I had my days of utilitarian vehicles (1991 Jeep Wrangler 4-banger)... Those days are long gone for me and I ain't going back. Love my truck! I like that I can take it off-road when I need/want to, but I also like the fact that my wife prefers to ride in our dual climate controlled, heated seat, bluetooth radio, pitch black interior, leather wrapped, touch screen, plush mobile... Best of both worlds for me.

And the market has spoken... you're outnumbered.

I agree, I (we, the 5 of us) am/are outnumbered. That’s just the nature of this beast. And that’s the way it will probably play out in the future. Because money. I am glad you got something you like. Buuuut I think it’s hella lame, the direction trucks are going, and ima say my piece until I get banned. The trend of everyone owning a pickup, even people with umpteen kids trying to force a square peg in a round hole, has ruined things, IMO. Gatekeeping is something I participate in, I’ll admit it. I have a side hustle rebuilding shocks. I frequently off-road. If I think youre a poser, I don’t want your business, and I’m not wheeling with you.

Dude, you shoulda kept the Jeep and ditched the wife... Now you don't have a Jeep, and your wife has 2 vehicles; your truck & whatever she drives... Always ditch the wife first, bro. Always.

I don't think you're saying anything that's ban-worth... Until the name calling starts, or you expose a nipple...

I completely understand the masses ruining something for the original core market. My favorite sports team comes to mind. They get a little success and then bandwagon fans jump on, driving up prices and changing the culture. I don't get mad at the team for it happening, it's just the truth about economics. Don't worry, eventually the fad will wear off, sales will dip, and Toyota will get back to their roots.

You have two options... Hang on to your utilitarian version of your Tacoma (whatever year it may be) and wait it out, or jump onto a new platform that hasn't been "discovered" by the yuppies you're talking about. Funny you feel so strongly about this group of "posers" and yet you're a frequent poster on TW. I think you'll find the majority of folks here are casual off-roaders and the minority are the extreme rock crawlers. Not to mention, you seem to hang out in the "poser" threads, more than I've seen you in the "true crawling" thread. No judgement there, just a humorous notable. Almost like reading the Youtube comments, just so you can rial yourself up.

I got rid of that Jeep LONG before the wife was in the picture. Hands down the worst vehicle I've ever owned... on-road. Best vehicle I've ever owned off-road. However, I'm not a mountain man and I actually live in a city, not a cave, so the majority of my driving life is on-road. Not to mention it was absolutely gutless.

The same could be said for people who buy trucks just to off-road a few trails that you could do in a Subaru Forrester lol. instead of do "WORK". If you can't load 2-4k worth of Flagstone in the bed of your truck and tow 12k+ pounds of trailer and backhoe you're a poser :) see how ridiculous those comments sound.

I wonder how old he is. He probably never drove around back in the days with a SOLID FRONT AXLE Chevrolet K20 or he'd be singing a different tune on the comforts of better suspension and seats LOL.

    1) I think crawling is the golf of off roading, and crawling isn’t the benchmark of hardcore wheeling. So you won’t find me in that thread because I actually have zero input on that bs.

you find me in ridiculous threads because I’m a fan of humorous things, usually.

    2) Yeah, I see your parallel with sports teams. Same basic sentiment.

    3) I don’t judge people by their trims. I judge people when they claim superiority of trims based on bolt-on accoutrements offered by the factory, because 9 times outta 10 they are just repeating hype from a brochure that Toyota doesn’t even back up.

Dammit... I was ready to continue bantering with you, but you had to go and be all civil about it.

    1. Yeah, rock crawling isn't so much of a thing here in the PNW (at least not in my groups). I like that thread because I wouldn't do any of that shit in my DD truck. And I like to see the trail carnage.
    2. cool
    3. Ok... I agree with that sentiment. I've off-roaded in a Kia Forte (rental) for work, because I had to. You don't need fancy shit to get off-road and arguing superiority of one item over another is laughable. I think a lot of people here get caught up in namesakes. I personally have as well, but I've also learned to subscribe to the buy once cry once mentality. I'd rather have something and not need it, than need it... Never felt superior about any of it. If anything, I sometimes feel stupid for getting caught up in the hype.

I have to be civil with you instead of carpet bombing hyperbole and breathing hot judgement because I respect your posts, even if some of the content is counter to my own. Some others, not so much.

What about heated seats and a sunroof? That's not available in the SR5 right? The wife isn't riding without heated seats lol....I actually like them too after the gym...
