Any info on exactly what cable is needed for vf tuner? Does it have to be the tactrix openport 2.0?

When I'm in S mode in a gear such as 4th, with light throttle is applied it can lug, but when I give it more throttle the RPM's jump up and the engine has more power (it doesn't downshift to 3rd). Is this the engine switching from Atkinson to Otto?

I don’t think it *HAS* to be. But tractrix is the only one "officially supported"

I believe in the past he said it's not a good idea to use a cheap cable.

Not the most knowledged on this...If it has more power being either locked vs unlocked, why wouldn't it just stay in the one that allows more power?

That's a good example. That makes it easy to understand.

So I am clear on this, we send the dongle to the address specified with our name, and then proceed to order VFtune. Does that generate a zendesk ticket and we're all set or should we submit a ticket in addition?

I ordered the "free" vFTune. Then submitted a Zendesk ticket (it's not done automatically) and I included the vFTune order number.
The next day I mailed my dongle, along with my name, email address, vFTune order number, Zendesk Ticket number, and my original 3 year old OVTune order number. Could be overkill, but so be it.

Edit: I also uninstalled the OVTune flashing software (PCMFlash?) and then installed the updated 1.3.0 version and did the step to obtain the System ID. Then I emailed that system ID to OVTune in a reply to the Zendesk email I had received in reply to my initial Zendesk ticket.

Observation: I've never before had so much Zendesk and other OVTune email communication over the three years I've had the dongle. But THIS is progress, I guess.

I live outside the USA. I only have the OFT too. Definitely don’t regret it. Its so handy to have in the console all the time for trying out all the different tune files.
I just went back to my dealer and got them to update to 04B04, job done. Was the 2nd best upgrade to my Tacoma so far. But I guess if your only option is to use techstream / tactrix to update then at least you can blame it in that BITCH Carole Baskins!

gas mileage and if the converter is locked for a long time it can heat up pretty quickly from my understanding.

I’m not sure what version my ecu is yet- haven’t hooked it up to my PC. All I know is that it shifts into 4th way too early! Throttle response sucks but that’s to be expected. It behaves better on the highway than my 2016 did when stock, but still not great.

Gonna get a new registry key from Mat soon though! I haven’t kept up to date with 2.0 and I didn’t know that the 2020s were going to be supported yet. Thankfully they are

I have not received a closeout of my ticket for dongle return instructions. However, I have received a vF key. Is it implied that by receiving the vF key that the dongle was received?
