This shackle hitch receiver sounds like a great idea, but is it safe to recover a Taco from its receiver?

As long as the hitch receiver is attached to the frame I wouldn't have an issue with it

Your receiver is rated at 6000 lbs - should be fine if your Taco is not buried past the frame in gumbo mud.

Just watch the angle of pull - too much of a side pull could twist the receive tube.

What's this about Tacomas getting stuck?

I have one of those receiver shackles and would not hesitate to use it. Certainly stronger than any other point on the rear of the truck.

So, some of you know that I also frequent .

One of the guys over there got an email from CVT about a sale they are doing with up to 50% off! Only problem is they don't have it listed on their website, which I find very odd. Anyway, he emailed the guy about a list of available products and here is the post of what is available. Some of it is in Chattanooga, so would be an easy drive for us! Unfortunately, no tents under $1k, but yo might find something of interest.

Keep in mind CVT will either have to charge you shipping if you order online or charge you tax if you pick up in store. There's no way around it. So factor the additional costs into your budget.

That’s right. I can’t remember if tax was 8% or 9%. When I bought mine a couple of years ago I tried to buy online and pick up in store but an in-store pickup makes it a taxable purchase unfortunately.

I wonder how much shipping would cost from Chattanooga...

Probably still more than the tax. But the sales price more than makes up for the tax/shipping that you would have regardless.

When are we cutting it up for bigger tires?

Welcome! Check out the other GA pages, once this COVID stuff is over I'm thinking mod day, camping trip or just a lake day somewhere.

    Thanks!!

Yeah man! Came with a Prinsu and a light bar (the brand escapes me at the moment but allegedly a good one)!

I’m in Atlanta. Candler Park specifically.

Yes to both!! I’m looking at tires already of course. So many options for sizes and brands. I’ve had a lot of off road trucks and a lot of different tires so it’s hard to choose.

Definitely down to meet up when it’s safe to do so!
