I watched that video earlier today. Y’all 3rd gen’s making us Tacoma owners look bad! With that said, we were all new to four wheel driving at one time. Cut the guy a bit of slack.

Eh, when you're in the dunes flip flops are nice. Even barefoot sometimes. Nothing worse than jumping out of your truck into a soft dune and getting a shoe full of sand. I certainly wouldn't judge someone's driving ability by their foot wear.

 

All new vehicles now have that T/C crap. Even the JL Wrangler I had before my Tacoma did the same thing. You had to turn T/C off and even in 4HI use Manual Mode.

 

Wow.Why do they always use a newbie to show what our trucks can do. An experienced Tacoma owner could have tracked his way out.

 

At least he is using his truck. I mean, improperly, but at least he is out there learning the limits of his rig.

 

Beach dunes yes. Desert dunes, hell to the fuck no. A full day of sunshine and that shit gets hot enough to fry eggs. If for some reason he had to hike out for help, it could have turned a bad day into his last day.

When did asking someone if they aired down their tires become a standardized IQ test? Surely there’s a better way to access someone’s intelligence. It’s not just common in this community. It’s also common in the mountain biking forums especially when discussing snow biking.

 

Asking someone if they are aired down when wheeling in those type of conditions is not an assessment or insicator of someone's intelligence, and it is not calling them stupid either. It's just to determine their knowledge of the subject matter or the lack thereof. If you don't know what you're doing then you probably shouldn't be doing it A. alone (especially true when dangerous conditions could be at play here) and B. without at least doing some basic research regarding the subject matter so you can come prepared to take on whatever it is that may hit you.

Clearly this guy did neither and he is lucky that all he got out of it was a damaged piece of bumper plastic.

Wheeling on dunes if it is in relatively close proximity to the ocean can potentially be a dangerous thing due to the ever-changing landscape of the terrain, and if the area is large enough and/ or no cell service is present and you get stuck then you can potentially get in some serious trouble.

 

I didn’t actually watch the video. I am just commenting on my observations that people online never miss a chance to make fun of someone for having the wrong air pressure in their tires.

 

That's just the way it goes. All FNGs to whatever the hobby is they are into will be clowned on over something. This guy just happened to not air down, so here we are. Lol.

 

If it wasn't that it'd be something else. Besides, the guy just seemed to be completely ill-prepared for what might/did happen. The situation ended well, so poking some fun isn't necessarily in poor taste as it's all in good fun
