I know of a young nurse here locally that has been furloughed for 1 day a week might turn into more[/QUOTE]

All the PRN guys I know have been told to wait for a phone call to know when they'll get to return to their hospital part-time gigs.

Hospitals rely on revenue and when it doesn't come in then you get furloughs and layoffs just like everybody else.

You wear a mask to protect those around you who can die from it, not yourself. It's called a selfless act.

The worst flu season we've had in the last 10 years or so (2017-18) killed roughly 61,000 people. With no social distancing or stay-at-home. Covid-19 will pass that in another week, maybe two. With all the measures that have been taken.
No way to know what the actual fatality rate is until we get way more testing. But it's extremely unlikely that it will be as low as flu numbers of 0.1%

I say we get rid of the flu vaccine, social distancing, and warning labels.
Let nature take its course and the planet will be better off.
But, then again, I hold more favor towards animals than I do people.

Edit: Narcan, make that sh** illegal to use on anyone other than first responders and accidental exposures.

When this is over, let's see if your logic applies

Sarcasm. The point is this is going to make the flu look like a joke, but believe what you want

Darwin award time lol. Funny how people are trying to compare seasonal flu to something way more contagious and deadly

    2 issues here.
    1) There's a vaccine for the flu. W/out that vaccine, what would the numbers be?
    2) Look how C-19 deaths are classified. CDC says if someone is confirmed to have C-19 or is suspected to have C-19.
Numbers are skewed. And each hospital gets a 20% bonus from Medicare, due to the new Care Act, for "confirmed" cases, think that'll skew them more? Roughly $13K for the patient visiting & $40K for patient going on ventilator.

We've gone from "200 million Americans can die from this" to "2-3 millions Americans WILL die from this" to "700-800,000 people WILL die from this" to now "it will probably kill more people than the flu".
My logic has already been applied. Clearly you need a different news source.

Just ignore them all. Ignorant biddies swinging empty purses at each other because some other old biddie called “BINGO!” first.

New Orleans did this during the Yellow Fever pandemic. They were also know as the City of the Dead.

Well any link to :censored: is instantly suspect, just sayin - Here are some links to the CDC.

In the 18-19 flu season there were an estimated 34,200 deaths https://www.cdc.gov/flu/about/burden/2018-2019.html and as of yesterday 46,379 US covid deaths. https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/cases-updates/cases-in-us.html

No reputable sites are predicting that the end of the deaths is near, and 46K dead people is a bigger number than flu deaths, so this is worse than the flu. How much worse remains to be seen.

For everyone bitching about the quarantine, what about being a contributing member of society? What about fighting off a foreign invader. If there were Russian soldiers running down our streets and the way to fight them was to stay indoors, how many people would be doing that without complaint?

What whack-job radio/tv shows have you been listening to/watching? I certainly have never seen any numbers even remotely getting close to this thing killing 2/3 of the US.

Put down the AM radio & fox news and quit posting political bullshit in a thread specifically titled 'non-political things that make you say wtf'. Please.
