...^^^... 4,000 people a year choke on their food ... illegal drugs kill a zillion ... legal drugs aka opiates kill a zillion ... car wrecks kill a zillion ... suicides from not working and having no money will take many lives ... many people who need medical attention now for other things will die too ... when we calculate the total cost in lives and money lost ... we will be astonished ... but it will be too late then.

Yes .. I agree that it is worse than the flu ... but is it sooo bad as to destroy America and/or many other Americans ?

I cut my own today. I need more practice at two-mirror left-handed blending, but I don’t look like a complete reject.

    Just partial.

    1) not sure - that's why we have a Vaccine, so we don't have to find out. That said you'ld have to go back to when Influenza first came out.
    2) Correct. to classify as Confirmed COVID means you had to receive test results confirming COVID. Kinda hard to skew the results if you don't run the test.

Note that the founding of the US is based on the notion of personal liberties > Community well being - a democratic nation that puts more focus on individual liberties (ie greater emphasis on individual freedom versus what's best for the community.) No surprise then the current showing of protests. One is not "Right" versus "Wrong" Its a question of what uncertain outcome you are aiming for, though the math doesn't lie, granted its based on limited sampling, which is what you have with limited access to testing.

Overall the effort to limit the spread of the virus has little to do with yourself, and everything to do with everyone else.

The whole effort is towards protecting the limitation of the healthcare system and those that need access to it for regular, or emergency care, so that all the medical resources are not consumed by dealing with just the "Flu".

If once we have a vaccine, hindsight opinion says we went overboard on restrictions, with "See I told you so "opinions expressed, will be met with the exact same phrase of "See I told you so, the restrictions worked."
What you likely want to avoid is the hind sight of "Fuck, we should have done more." as you only get the one chance to limit the spread the first time.

I was promoted into a more managerial position at work a while back, moving from a junior officer to a senior officer spot. One of my peeves is with junior officers coming to me with a problem... X is broken, what do I do? My answer is usually akin to "well, you go and look at the problem, look at the manual, then come back to me with at least two options of what you think you should do and we'll go from there." They usually either get tired of having to think for themselves and leave, or they figure it out and get better.

I think a lot of it comes from our throw-away society. It's cheaper oftentimes to just buy a new one than it is to repair something. It's easier to plunk the kids down in front of the TV than it is to spend time with them getting dirty and figuring out how to take things apart and put them back together.

Obviously you have already formed your opinion. Are medical experts supposed to look at a brand new virus and and be able to know everything about it right at the get go? If these safeguards weren't in place, those numbers might be realistic, who knows. What we do know is there are a lot of vulnerable people out there who could not fight the virus off, especially people who could be asymptomatic and give it to them unknowingly. At the end of the day, people just need to use their brain, make smart decisions, and think about others for once.

Jesus Christ.... Just when I think you can't get anymore uninformed you prove me wrong. This is MUCH worse than the common Flu. That is a fact and probably one of the dumbest things that I've heard you say so far. All it takes is one look at New York or some of the other major cities.

You are spreading information that is complete nonsense.

I could be wrong, but the best I can tell is you work for Lancaster Tx Fire Dept. - Station 3.

If that is the case then this is what you respond to:

"In 2018 Lancaster Fire Department responded to 6,539 calls. Since the City's inception in the 1900's, it has grown to house 3 fire stations. Current staffing consists of the Fire Chief, Assistant Fire Chief, Fire Marshal, 5 Battalion Chiefs, 11 Captains, 48 Firefighters, and 2 Administrative Secretaries."

If that is indeed where you work, the Truck I was assigned to made more than half of the runs of your entire city per year. That was just "my" Truck which I was the Captain on. That's not including all the other units in the city. Just "my" truck.

Why you insist on coming in here and spreading misinformation is beyond me? The only thing that I can agree with you on is this quarantine will not stop it but it will slow the spread which is EXACTLY what we need to do to keep the hospitals from being overwhelmed. You claim to have all this information at your disposal but guess what? I also have the same information you do. Much more likely from higher sources than I imagine you do and from much more reliable sources since the claims you make have very little basis in reality. I have all the documents from the State Health Dept., the CDC, and all of the internal documents from the FD. Then you add in my wife who works at the largest hospital in the state who has all the relevant documentation and has first hand knowledge of the case load and numbers just at that hospital.

I do not understand your reasoning for posting uninformed information? I also don't understand your reasoning for posting it in such a combative way? So stop spreading misinformation. It does no good for anyone. If it is truly like you say it is... then take off your mask on each and every run you make. If you're not willing to do that? Well... then that says something huh? There is a very good reason your posts keep on popping up in the WTF? thread. Because that's exactly what it is. WTF??
