Team O’Neil posted a pretty good TRD Off-road review.

I didn't watch the video but if it was strictly about the value proposition, the 2020 SR5 4x4 AT V6 has an MSRP of $35,190 and the same configuration OR is $36,965. There is alot of extra equipment or value for the $1775 difference.

The Dempster is pretty fantastic. Landscape unlike anything I've seen, especially as you get toward the north end.

I think the case of getting a lower end truck and modding it up works better for the TRD-offroad vs TRD Pro debate. The SR5 is much more comparable in price to the Offroad, so by the time you put in an aftermarket locker, better suspension (meaning at least TRD-offroad 4100 series bilsteins), better tires (meaning A/Ts in comparable sizes), you are in it more than the price of an OR.

But to each their own. I think the offroad strikes the best balance of resale value and functional upgrades to other trims without paying the premium of a pro

I don’t like how the guy so quickly throws out crawl control. You don’t really crawl through mud sometimes you need wheel speed to get through. People who say crawl control doesn’t work really don’t know or have not been in a situation where it matters or they don’t have the skill to understand how to get up an obstacle in the first place. Crawl control keeps impressing me the more I use it while not having a front locker. It works a lot better in the rocks and higher traction situations.

Me too. But then all the 4wd guys openly envy how little my pipe dangles down when I get to the business. That’s why they’re all getting their pipes snipped. Where do I get it snipped? Where did you get snipped? Does mine hang down too much? What about when it’s hot down there? Can you look and see? Is there a good place to get snipped near you? Here’s a picture now that I’ve been snipped. Show me pics of your plumbing before and after the snip.

I’d like to keep going. Lord knows we’ve heard enough about mud flaps already.

I have had TTB, Live axle and IFS. None of them are perfect, but used right all 3 will do the job. Ever seen a Dana 44 axle u-joint fail and then in slow motion tear the steering knuckle off the end it the axle housing! Almost as impressive as the ratchet strap repair to keep the steering knuckle attached to drive the truck out of the bush! Wish I has a camera for pictures of that mess.

I just watched the review. He's honest. Some of his complaints are useless. He never read the manual, I have a manual truck and I know S-mode is a gear limiting mode not a gear selector. It isn't starting in 4th gear, it won't shift past 4th. Is he right that an SR is a better deal. For sure. I bought a TRD Sport. Basically an SR with a hood scoop. The scoop is the source of all the power!
