What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Mine has cracks also, did you make the new braces or get them from somewhere?

 

Man and here I wasted my time swapping the bed supports for rust free ones on my tundra.. probably should have done what y’all did.. oh well doubt I’ll break em any time soon.

 

Made them. Debating on selling the file for a few bucks and you could send it to a place of your choosing to have cut. I'd do it all but I don't think many would be interested in spending ~$500 on bed supports. Maybe I could start a thread to guage interest and see how much I could get the costs down to.

 

I've noticed on my T100 that the bed support sits on top of a cross member on the frame. Not just small 2x2 square on the perimeter. I'd imagine the tundra is similar.

 

Keep me in the loop, the truck will be going under the knife in a few months and the bed will be off anyway.

 

Ehh kinda. It’s more supported than the taco but it’s not on a cross member

tried switching shocks today with another member on here and things didn't come to plan hahah. snapped the bolt that attaches the rear shock to the leaf spring plate. any recommendations for driving without rear shocks and just on the leaf pack? probably don't drive fast and wheel but anything else i should be mindful of

A few weeks ago I replaced my old toytec front lift with some Kings and I thought the truck preformed much better. Today I decided to take off the sway bar to get better handling on rough roads. All I can say is that sway bar is never going back on! I can now cruise down a rough rocky dirt road at 20mph that I could only go 15mph max on yesterday.

You'll be fine. Probably gonna be real bouncy back there but if you stick to paved roads for the time being it'll be ok

Also why didn't you do the middle one that sits between the wheel wells?

 

Assuming because there isn't a mount point for the bed there?

 

Anyone ran into this before with a rear nitrocharger shock?



First inch had no damping after pulling it off the truck. Barely any effort to push it down. Then after cycling it some, it went away.
Don't know how the internals of these shocks work so not sure what that could be from. They don't seem to be completely blown other than that I don't think.

 

still makes contact with the frame though with stuff back there. Plus with a BL I'd think you'd want to have contact there, just asking for it to cave in over time.

 

Yea that's a good point with the BL. I agree that you would want that area supported.
He's made it this far on his BL and it hasn't caved in there so could be fine as long as he's not putting all his heaviest stuff there
