I found a lot of information on camp tops on this site, but much of it has been with Access/Double cabs. Who has one on their regular cab? Brand? Price paid? Thoughts? Can you post pictures?

I am looking into one primarily for out of the weather storage and better gas mileage, but I'll also use it to transport my two dogs when the wife is riding along and I may actually use it to camp. Therefore, it needs to be watertight.

Also, I bought the truck first and foremost to transport my motorcycle to the track. While this only occurs a few times per year, I need the top to be easily removable. I am figuring on making some sort of block and tackle lift system in my garage so I can put it on and off myself.

    Thanks!

Any top that fits the access cab will fit the regular cab.

The bed of the regular cab and access cab are the same, as Roland commented, and the DC with the long bed is likewise the same. Only the DC with the short box is different in the Taco line-up.

Yeah, I don't know about the mileage, but I just figured I'd see an increase due to the drag of the tailgate on my truck now.

I recognize visibility will be reduced and taking it on and off will be a pain. But, it seems like the ability to store stuff in the bed out of the weather, haul the dogs, and possibly use it for sleeping or storage while camping will be good. Plus, some of them look pretty cool, but I haven't seen many regular cabs, hence my request for pictures.

You know, new neighbors are supposed to bake something for everyone on the street as a form of an offering.

Here is a picture of mine, it is from Innovation. I did not see the price tag on this, only because my parents purchased it.

I contacted Leer to talk about what fits the regular cab and while the beds are the same between the access cab and the regular cab, they informed me the cab angles are different so they don't fit properly. Does anyone know about this fitment issue? It seems like everyone (A.R.E., Leer, Snugtop, etc.) makes nice looking caps for the other trucks, but not the regular cab =(

I have a regular cab and I am looking into getting a camper top as well. I want to be able to take it off if needed too. I would put racks on top it to make it even more versatile. I would set up a pulley system in my garage to strap on to the racks and suspend the camper from the celing. When it needs to go back on the truck just back it into the garage and lower onto the bed.
I had a friend that did this with the hard top of a jeep and it worked great.
