Getting back to stonks.. INTC beat on EPS, beat on revenue, withdrew guidance, down 5% in after hours.

I guess this is a preview of what's to come. Even big beats of the revised down guidance won't be positive news if future guidance is withdrawn or revised down. It could get ugly, because almost ALL earnings reports are going to go just like this.

 

I think you may be right on this. It will be positive outlook post virus/shutdown vs. the actual financials after all this

 

I’m not surprised about the dip of INTC, I am surprised about their positive performance.
AMD is kicking INTC’s ass on the consumer and server side of computing, INTC has some major adjusting of price/performance to be competitive for anyone other than the top 1%.

 

Almost just got into it with a random person a bit ago about how all of this is an overreaction and how the media has him scared

 

Lol, I thought I lost 5 friends over a debate like that. Apparently they still are cool with me as they invited me to their weekly Skype drinking session. Got into a debate with a few family members over this as well. People are not open to logical discussion!

 

Same here. Last week I got into it with a guy that knows my wife through work. I guess I pissed him off enough that he sent my wife a text telling me to fuck off. She asked me to let it go and I will. Until I see that guy in person. I find it better to resolve issues face to face. That way you can see the fear in their eyes. lol

Cant find a good place to post this but I assume everyone in here either works for a company or owns or has owned a business. I started a safety consulting company and what social media platform is worth it for generating sales leads? I'm on LinkedIn/have a LinkedIn company page and have a website and that's about it. Local networking events are out of the question right now. Do people in company's use instagram or Facebook to find vendors/contractors? Target businesses are manufacturing, distribution and industrial type companies.

To stay on topic the purpose of this business is to make money to invest, and used investment money to start this venture.

 

Maybe LinkedIn, but not likely. Do you have a portfolio of work and a detailed list of services provided (e.g. - a company “resume”)? Many medium to large operations have a safety department and wouldn’t consider needing consulting services without some sort of salesmanship involved — best face to face. It’s a tough time to start up

 

I'm credentialed and have 13yrs of experience in various safety roles at a few companies, one of them fortune 500 multisite blah blah blah. List of services on my website and linkedin. The companies brand spanking new, I started at simultaneously the worst and best time in history for workplace safety LOL! My target is small to medium sized companies with no safety department.

 

You might create a new thread and ask your questions (be prepared for flack). I don’t have a solid answer for you, but grit is your best friend right now. Send messages, ask questions, and reach out to the contacts you do have. Plant the seed now to revisit when things begin to pick up

 

Yea I'm fully prepared to grind it out and have been planting seeds with the people I know. Didnt know if anyone actually looks at other social media platforms, hence my question here. I get the "IG brah!!!" "Content is king" Etc from people but they also arent selling services b2b. I had 3 clients lined up, but 2 probably will never open again, or at least for the foreseeable future.

 

Search engine results. For B2B, having a good, professional website and optimizing it to show up towards the top of google searches of businesses in my area would be my number 1 concern. If I needed a safety department for my department (deptartmentception) google would be my first go to and from there, I would check out the company’s website, credentials, etc. My background: some millennial in middle management that Google’s services when I need something for my company lol

Also in my mind, a company’s social media account is typically ran by an employee not involved in decision making, they aren’t really looking for other companies. Just from my experience, I haven’t ever established a business partnership through FB, IG, twitter

 

I wished I had an answer for you, as I have a safety background as well. Unfortunately this area revolves around the US Army Safety Center, along with their guidelines and regulations. Then there is the NASA group that also makes up this town. Our prime contractors are major players in the helicopter industry (Boeing and AgustaWestland) and they follow AS9100 industry standards.

There is a need for what you want to do and I applaud you for going after it, but marketing that service is another story.

Have you looked into trade shows or conferences? I realize that setting up a booth can get very expensive, but walking around with pamphlets and business cards with your website and services info is an option and many do that.

 

my past two and current EHS managers have been over 50 and for sure not on instagram. You aren’t selling protein shakes, Instagram isn’t your target audience! You can try it, but I wouldn’t focus main efforts on it.

 

That's the route I'm going, just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing out on something here. There is nothing IG worthy about safety anyway.
