Two Bullets through Engine Harness. No Fuel, Horn, or Drivers Rear window

I guess Toyota was lying when they said the engine was bulletproof

 

OK, Thanks for the clairification.

No power at pump connector, Power at fuel pump resistor, and will not start ( no fuel ) with the resistor bypassed.

Friend that would have to be a wiring or connector issue between the resistor and the pump connector. Should be pretty easy to locate with a meter.

 

I plan to prove them right.

The bullet I found in the blower assembly on the right. The bullet lodged in the back of the radiator on the left. .243 rounds may leave clean holes however they would probably be straight through the truck! lol

 

I would think a bullet grazing the main ECU harness would have the potential to break wires internally even though the sheath may look undamaged.

 

I was thinking the same thing when repairing. If any wire had a slight bend in it I would find the weak point, cut, and re-solder.

 

Why are there no rounds exiting the passenger compartment?

What kind of sissy did you buy the truck from? Does the interior still smell like his husband's perfume?

If the obd wouldn’t connect, I’d suspect a problem with the ecu. Something to look at if tracing a short from the resistor to pump finds nothing.

Replacing a ecu is expensive. Connecting a new one with an existing problem that fried the first one could be an expensive oh no moment.

 

Haha. They went through a ton of layers (fender flare, fender, two layers of fender support, firewall, wiring harness, Blower fan assembly. I see your location is East bay. Although the truck was registered in Ukiah, The auction was Close to you (Vallejo).

My theory is a Grower from Northern CA came down to the bay to sell and ran into some bad company.

In the truck bed I found a tent, sleeping bags, pillows, and irrigation equipment.

 

Watch out for marijuana needles as you clean it out.

I forwarded the pix and description to a few colleagues up that way. Will advise.

 

I have considered that. Its a pretty simple circuit board inside the ECU. I cracked it open but come to think about it I only inspected the front side of the circuit board so there could certainly be some damaged components on the back side.

You say the repairs you made were good but the evidence contradicts that. It would be a good idea to check continuity on every repair connection just to make sure and check the resistance at each connection.
