While this looks cool, I'm not sure I see the point, I guess other than it looking cool.

In the old days roofs and sometimes entire greenhouses were painted white on commercial vehicles because they were base models without air conditioning. Obviously this was done to keep cabin temperatures down.

People painted the hoods of race cars and off-road racing vehicles flat black to help with glare from the sun or lights.

I think many new cars come with gloss black roofs to blend in with the greenhouse. Dark tinted windows are basically gloss black from a distance and combined with a sunroof(s) suggests an all glass roof.

    Just curious.

I got one from KTJO and it was $130 or something. Easy install and came with everything you need for plug and play. Installed mine in 30 min with watching their youtube video. No cutting or bending involved.

You could buy a sheet of plywood to put on top of the wheel wells and put the mattress on that. It's always good to have a sheet of plywood laying around anyway.

I primarily wanted to protect the roof from the sun...also as an added protection for when I eventually install a roof rack...

I read a forum on here few months back that explained my Year -2017 paint - blazing blue pearl had some clear coat issues...After reading that forum, I would look at my roof from my 2nd story deck and could see a slight difference as described in the forum...I figured I'd nip some of the clear coat disasters I saw in the forum in the butt during this lock down BS and before summer actually begins..

With no bad intent I'd just say this, if he's happy with it then I'm happy for him, especially since it looks to be very well done.
Not all mods are for everyone and the only thing that really matters is that the person doing the modding is happy with the end result.
I'm certain that many don't care for my step stool mod but it suits me and saves my tired old knees from crawling around on that rigid composite tailgate.
Another example would be my hitch mounted grill mod. That's not for everyone either.
    Just a thought.

Excuse my ignorance.. I know there’s probably a better place to ask, but you all are pretty cool and responsive here.
What’s the difference between retrofit and BHLM?
Someone please correct me if I’m wrong... I thought BHLM (black headlight mod) was the process of taking your headlights out, tossing them into the oven and then dissecting them to paint the chrome black, and then putting them together?
What exactly is a “retrofit” in regards to headlights?

Not today but yesterday; rescued a couple African migrant Amazon delivery drivers who decided to follow google maps instead of their eyes and went clear past our house and the end of the road and went about a mile into a 4 wheeler trail, made it through the first couple holes and then got the Camry hung up on the last one. Pulled it out with the tractor, but brought the truck back for some fun, went past them and did a donut in the trail to get turned around :D. Those boys were not impressed, they were more scared of they’re situation than impressed by my donut skills, neither one of them could speak a bit of English but we got them out and sent them on they’re way. All that for a 3$ package of tent pegs:D.
