Putnam, CT is usually where they meet in a parking lot. But as others have stated, open public spots to go wheeling are getting harder and harder to come by so we tend to lean on the side of caution and not post locations. Some places like NH, VT, and MA have class IV and class VI roads which are roads on a map that are public roads, but are unmaintained. So these can range from a fire road to rock crawling type stuff

My Tacoma is all done up, but I don't have a lot of money, just have been building it slowly over the past 6 years with 1 big purchase a year. Some people have the money to do it to new(er) trucks but some of us have just had our trucks long enough that they've been modified to the degree that they are

I was mirroring the thoughts of Barney fife. Not my own. I understand that a lot of the trail rigs are years of work and purpose built.

I never had an issue with my FJ cruiser. Which usually had my at least my hi-lift strapped to the roof cause I was too lazy to take off. But i drove normally/ borderline slow and defensively and never had an issue. Even when my inspection sticker was like 2 years overdue.

The RI spot is fine, but not worth making a trip from NY for. If it's local to you it's fine to bum around for a few hours. But it's a pretty small area. You're better off making a trip up for Class VI roads in NH/ VT once mud season is done/ SARS restrictions are lifted and we can cough on each other all willy nilly. So much better, almost endless possibilities. Plus remote camping opportunities.

ueah that’s true. The trails are fun when you live in providence and the closest thing you have is a puddle in the stop and shop parking lot.

I never had an issue either other than one night going a little quick on my way home, got a verbal warning and was on my way

    :spy:

I’m full stock. I’m keeping it stock until the wheels are work and then I’ll get new wheels. Other than sliders I probably won’t do much. This is my daily driver. If I end up getting or making this a trail rig....that’s a different story.

My Tacoma was my daily driver, still wheeled it. I have about 33k on the stock tires now. I think I've decided on what I'm going with when I replace them. Still looking at lift options. The only thing on my 4runner I'm concerned about is the gas tank. It hangs a little low, so I'll need a skid plate for it.

May also want to consider an IFS skid if you plan to hit some trails still. Comes in handy more so than the thin stock one

yeah I need some skids too. In my mind that’s still “stock” since it doesn’t make the truck go better :p. But yeah I’ll be looking at some skids later this year.

Anyone know where to look for a vin on that car out there? Windshield location is all jacked up. Do they stamp it onto the engine block anywhere? I’ll call some scrap yards and see if the condition it’s in will affect them taking it without a title.

fridge and tv are ten bucks each to get rid of in East Providence. Fortunately the fridge is near a trail head so it’s not like I’ll be taking it up a rock crawl or something. Once they start taking again in my town I’ll probably need a second set of hands to get it up into my truck.

otherwise I don’t think there’s any big ticket items just a crap load of tarps beer cans boxes etc.

edited to add: it’s the second Saturday of each month. So I’d like to get it Friday before that then. I’ll let y’all know if they start again in May. That would be May 9 so Friday the 8th maybe after work or something. Not sure the pickup time on Saturday and don’t want to chance it for a month :p

You might be able to look it up online, some body panels may have it on them as well, some have stickers. Some factory glass has the vin, but if I remember right the windows are all broken, there should be multiple locations for the vin on the car
