It depends what final height you want to be at and what weight the front bumper is when it's added. Brake lines aren't an issue on the front. With UCA's you'll be able to go to 3.5" lift and still be ok. Then add a bumper and go down to 3" if that's the sort of route you're taking about.

Looking at going with Dobinsons mrr adjustable front and the mrr remote res rear struts, upper control arms, leaf springs etc. as of now I’ve just got sliders and steel skids and other than bumpers, winch and a bed rack in the future i plan to keep it as light as possible. What would be the best coil springs and leaf pack for a 2.5 to 3 inch lift, and if it’s going be around a year before the bumper and winch go on should I just go with a heavier spring when that time comes?

Quoted just shy of $3500 for a full kit with what’s listed above plus diff drop coil overs out together and uniballs presses.

If you're going to run a light bumper and winch later on, you could use the C59-314 coils with the MR59A-A220 front struts and set the appropriate for the height you want now, then later when you add the weight, you can adjust the height then.

For the rear, the L59-111-R if you want more than 2" with the bed rack, but it all depends how much weight you'll add onto them.

We just got word that the rear MRA's for Tacoma are now on the way to the US, so they should be here in early June.

Sounds good, yea I’ll be going with a hybrid bumper and winch up front so maybe total weight would be 200-220 up front and other than kayaks and camping gear not much weight on the bed rack.

For light weight in the back, then the 110-R rear springs will be enough. They'll be 2" lift

@Crikeymike can you explain the difference between the GS59-221 and the GS59-220 please? My understanding is that the '220 would be for 3 inch lifts?

GS59-221 uses a stock height coil seat, so whatever coil you use it with will dictate what lift height you get.

GS59-220 uses a taller height coil seat, which adds ~1" of lift to whatever height coil you use. These also have more travel built in, suited for a taller lift height

So GS59-221 with a 2" coil gives 2" of lift
GS59-220 with the same 2" coil gives 3" of lift

Looking for help here @Crikeymike. I really appreciate all of the info you have given and hope you don't mind one more request for help.

I am a total newb with suspension and my truck is stock - 2017 OR DCSB. I would like to run approx 3" lift in front and level out the back so what 2 - 2.5"? Hoping to fit some new wheels with taller tires and do light fire roads, camping and light trails. Kinda of a good at most but best at nothing style.

Sliders coming soon. Looking at a bed rack eventually and probably a tent. Obviously gear in back too. And in the front i'm thinking SSO Slimline bumper with winch. Want to keep things as light a possible where practical.

It will probably take 12-18 months to get it all installed. Is there something I can do now to keep a decent ride but still be able to handle the upgrades in future? Or just get what I need now and change springs later?

    Thanks!

I’m no Mike but if you want a little advice here’s me 2c
Don’t do 3” in front. 2” is the sweet spot on height without really ruining your suspension geometry (not breaking it just making it not great performance-wise) and making your ride suffer.
Pony up for a leaf pack in the rear. Don’t do the AAL as if you carry any weight for a decent amount of time your stock leafs will sag. Better to just spend $500 now instead of $200 now and $500 in a year

Hi mate. You can run that height if you want, especially to help level the truck. Since you're not sure if and when you'll be adding the front bumper weight, you might want to consider the new IMS struts from Dobinsons with the full threaded body. Then you can get a suitable coil for the height now and have it ride really nice, then when you add that weight you can adjust the IMS to regain any lost lift. That bumper and winch weight will drop it about 1/2".

If you don't want to go the adjustable IMS route, you can go with the coils to suit the height you want now, then you might need to change them out later to compensate for lost lift, or add some 1/2" spacers to bump it back up.

3" in the front does require new UCA's to correct the alignment and have it riding and driving properly.

In the rear, you can just use the light/medium weight leaf packs to get the 2" of lift. It can support a rack and tent no problem.

Question for 302 Coils on the 220 Struts (2.5" up front)

Does anyone know if I'll run into major rubbing / need for a CMC if I run 285s on stock OR wheels (285/75/16?) I think those would be the correct specs...

Maybe not the right place to be asking but i've read a few contradicting things regarding 285/75/16 on a 2.5" lift

Anyone have any issues with rust? I know thats an issue with the OME Nitrochargers and being that I live in NY, when it snows (or gets too cold), they salt the roads like crazy.

@Minnesnowta it depends on your wheel off set and uca’s. I run sema pro rims and spc uca, and ko2 285/70/17. No rub. 9BCF13A1-D80B-4C9E-9DE1-B698D2C04E5F.jpg

Thank you! Your truck looks great. Just got my order delivered today. Deciding between 285s or 255 skinnys to get up to 33inch tires. Tire prices are tough right now it seems like, can't find a good deal.

I love my 285/70/17. Ko2 all mounted balanced and alignment was about 1000. Gas does takes a hit, but I’m def ok with that. Good luck.

Well I just took apart my suspension to swap from 302 to 314 coils, and as expected after two months out east in the salt, any bit of exposed metal had developed rust on it. On the shocks, these were just little knicks/scratches from the install, however, the coils come with pretty decent sized chips/knicks out of the box (they should use more padding inside the box IMO), as well as a big unpainted spot on the end. My guess is that's where they hang the coils from while they're being powder coated, but instead of touching up this spot after, they just slap a sticker around it. I would highly suggest a couple of coats of paint on these spots before installing otherwise your coils will be brown before you know it.

Here's how the coils arrive. Note the abrasion through the ceran wrap, and the unpainted spot under the sticker.
    IMG_0713.jpg IMG_0714.jpg IMG_0715.jpg IMG_0716.jpg

Here's what you can expect if you don't touch up those spots. (302 coils after 2 months)
    IMG_0934.jpg

After learning my lesson, here are the 314 coils ready for install with a couple coats of spray paint on areas in need.
