Disable BS safety features

By purchasing a programmer will it permanently disable features like traction control? Seems like mine just comes back on once the wheels reach a certain speed.

 

Legally nobody can do that. Too much of a liability

 

I believe the legality of doing it vs the liability in doing it are two different things.

 

Legally they can not disable any safety feature because if something were to happen they would be liable since they disabled a safety feature that was never supposed to be disabled

 

Then there should be no option to turn them off.

 

By “they” I mean an aftermarket company such as a tuning company, programmer, etc.

 

So, only insurance and Toyota can do it... ?
I own the truck, I own a copy of tech stream.
I can see the insurance part, but by simply altering your policy to payback higher premium maybe. But I don't know about illegal.

 

Are you pressing it, holding it, or holding it at a dead stop? Because all 3 of those do different things. (The last one doesn’t kick back on at a certain speed)

 

I havent tried to do it at a dead stop.

 

If it's on there, whomever turns it off or disables it, Toyota, friend, mom, owner, etc. Is liable for that action. If it was not part of the original equipment then of course you are not liable.
Kevin Hart bought a hot rod. He got hurt while riding in it. He is suing the company who built the hot rod for not putting the original safety features back in after rebuild. He will win. Same principle applies.

 

He should not have accepted delivery of the car if its not what he wanted.

 

Please tell me more about these safety features built into a 1970 Plymouth Barracuda, other than the seat belts that none of the three passengers were wearing. He won't win. This has been attempted before, by rich assholes trying to sue for their inability to control a high performance vehicle. Once you demonstrate that you are driving a vehicle on public roads with total disregard for traffic laws and the safety of those that share the road with you, the major contributing factor is your unsafe actions.

 

Logic and lawsuits do not go together. Ever.

I told my wife that if I die and she needs money, take her name brand hair dryer, plug it up, turn it on and use the base of the handle where the cord is to hammer a nail into the wall. 120V won't hurt much and she can sue for loss of consortium or some other nonsense because there is no warning label on there saying you can't use it as a hammer.
It will never get to trial because they will settle for six figures and move on.

I hate lawyers.
