You are paying WAY too much for gas more than a dollar than you should. Unless you are living in the sagebrush sea.

One of the main reasons that I hesitate to get a second dog.

Taken enough cruises in my life first time I went around the world was in 83 on the Coral Sea. But there is a lot of Canada and the US I want to see yet also. Dogs crimp that style. Right now the dogs win but eventually would hope to finally back the right horse and find a woman to accompany me and the dogs would only get in the way. Tough call. I'm going with the dogs for the next 5-7 years LOL. And hope I don't regret it. But have never ever regretted owning a dog and the responsibility that it entails. A balance of both would be perfect IMO

I agree. No imports into cal, we have our own refineries and oil and blends for the environment.
And taxes, lots of taxes on gas.

But our salaries are higher and our houses are worth a small fortune.

And my company pays for my work truck.

Been there. Then again you could work for well into 6 figures and live on some land too with less taxes and a house that cost a LOT less. Oregon comes to mind, wait the taxes, left coast... But there are other areas taxes are pretty close even in the middle of the Country, gas West of the Rockies is unreal though. Mn. has the pipeline from Canada and it helps a lot. Fracking and screwing up the earth is another story, not going get into it. Some may consider it politics...

Had an Uncle in the early 60's that went to Huntington Beach and bought a house for $6k we thought he was nuts for paying that much. Sold it ~20 years ago for 1 million it was actually more of a bungalow but it was on the beach. That was at the bottom of the housing market.

But having lived on both coasts just couldn't do it again, on either coast too damn many people. Been there and done that and have that T-shirt. Not always my choice where I lived went where Uncle Sam told me to. That is just me. And never EVER thought I would live in the middle of this Country. Could not drag me out of here now. Starting to be too many people here anymore and have not ruled out Alaska. I know a guy...

We have a house up in Oregon, bigger than the LA one and worth half. Food is expensive up there and taxes are about the same.
Gas is a dollar cheaper and they pump it.

My Dad grew up in Racine and I have cousins up North in Wis. Nice country, just too cold in the winter for me. And, lake effect snow was really unusual on a sunny day.

My Dad never wanted to go back until he was older, in his 80s he started talking about it. He missed alot of years with his siblings

Have had half a dozen heat strokes in some damn sand box. And passed out more than 20+ times of heat exhaustion. Couldn't wait to get back to someplace where I could piss my name in the snow.

Was great at first, now not so much..

20's and 30's below zero hurt my bones now. Hell below zero hurts if I am honest. But have to have my 4 seasons or life is not complete.

We always pay too much for gas here!!

We love to travel so we found a pet sitter. She comes by twice a day and takes care of the cats and checks on the house at the same time. Brings in the mail, takes out the trash, does whatever else. It works great for us! Just a thought. It’s a way to have your pets, makes sure they are always taken care of and still travel.
