Oh yeah, you too. Clearly Eric's theory has been disproven, and he needs to up his EAF game.

 

What do you think about the wide/cornering vs the driving/combo on your BDs?

 

I just assumed these would be used for snow/fog/dust and I didn't need them to shoot very far. That's what the Hellas are for. That being said, I'm surprised at how far they are effective.

I would need to put them next to a driving/combo to really compare.

 

Well I just ordered the driving/combo, I guess we will have to do a side by side!

 

Getting close to getting the axle swap done.

Made some shock mounts. Next time I'm going to wait for Tim to cut some on the waterjet. What a pain in the dick.





Replaced the leaf spring bushings and painted the leafs while it was apart, and added a zerk to the shackle pivot.



Pulled axle shafts and 3rd out of the old axle. All looks good on those.



Replaced most of the studs with grade 10.9 Allen bolts. Will use regular bolts on the bottom to drain.



And welded it all up, including replacing all the brake line tabs I cut off for the truss....





Now to dump a couple cans of brake cleaner through it, paint, install new seals, and reaasamble.

 

I'll give you $1 if you paint it pink.

Sparkling canyon metallic? I'm saving this for the right occasion.



And I was pleased with how most all of the welds came out. Its a lot easier when it's easy to work on and get in the right position.

 

Great looking welds! But FFS just buy those mounts from ruff stuff

 

I think I spent more money on these if you add up the welding consumables, cut off wheels, etc.

Oh well, they're done and perfectly suited for my application. Gained a decent amount of clearance at the shock mounts too the way these are designed vs my ruffstuff mounts I had.

 

I did a small run of 1.5 wide mounts, I'm welding them out now when I have time. if you wanted to gain some more bling points with a water jet cut fully tig welded shock mount.

You don't appreciate how fancy my angle grinder mounts are?








I should have waited a little longer. Not about to cut these off though.

I totally appreciate it as I used to make tabs and mounts that way. There is a set for you and @jubei for when you need them.

Brett, I have a question about limit straps on the front. I see that the TG straps are not available in any length shorter than 8". I am wondering if you wish you had gone with another brand, Say Kartek, that is available in a 7" length?

I am planning to use the swaybar mount you used.

The trail gear straps are junk. I threw them in the trash and replaced them with 7" karteks last year.

I run limit straps to prevent a hard top out when the coilovers extend quickly. Not to limit suspension travel. I would want them with regular travel COs too.

 

I am going with limit straps to prevent the shock at full droop from yanking on the coil bucket structure.
