I've offroaded with guys who like the challenge of certain terrain, and its kinda frustrating to watch someone fight with mud for 2 hours or intentionally get stuck.

I like the exploration end, not the technical part. But there's so much to be experienced one way or another.

Same. Exploration and speed. If a dude wants to play grab ass with a stack of rocks instead of roosting around it, we aren’t on the same page.

    I get you.
I don’t like off-roading per say. What I do like is exploring and finding cool scenery and camping or what people call over landing.
For me, it’s fun once and a while to maybe try rock crawling, but 99% of the time, I’ll by pass it if I can. With that being said, some destinations I can’t get to with a stock rig.

Used to like working with my hands; became an aircraft mechanic, now don’t event want to change my own oil on my car. I do believe that doing something as a job no matter if you loved it, would eventually become a chore in the future. Now that I am behind a desk managing, i started working on my vehicles again. Not as much as I used to, but I Getting back to it at my own pace.

Same. Offroading is a means to an end. Not that I don't enjoy it, but I don't typically go out just to play in the dirt, I have a destination in mind. Usually something along the lines of as far from everyone else as possible.

Speed is fun but I prefer getting goosebumps at 5mph nowadays.

To me the fun part of rock crawling would be building the vehicle.

I get it. It’s s just sometimes I see guys (a lot of Tacoma’s too) out on the same trails I m on. And I’m thinking as my head is bouncing off the drivers side window and all my sh*t is flying around the cab...WTF. If there is a destination for fishing (which is one of my hobbies, btw) I understand.

    Anyway , thanks for responding.

Probably because you’re offroading in a heavy-duty truck with suspension that beats the shit out of you even on asphalt, which has a turning radius that could miss a barn? Probably loaded up with a shit ton of weight in the back with a utility bed too? Not an ideal off-roader by any means

This is the truth...Already experienced it once. Made a “career” field change and hoping I won’t have to go through it again.

Time for an attitude adjustment, start looking at the drive to the job site as an adventure. There was often an element of danger when I worked in the field and now that I’m retired, off roading can provide some of that old feeling. Life is short, embrace it with gusto!

I kind of like this thread. I have never liked the feeling of banging around inside of the cab of a vehicle while off-road. And rock-crawling? Forget about it. But I have always had 4x4 vehicles to get me to places where most other vehicles can't go, so I can be away from people. I will have to say it's getting MUCH harder to do. I see people in places now where I never would have even 15 years ago.

Rock crawling is like bouldering at indoor climbing gyms. It’s the art of doing something pointless as difficult as possible.

    Change my mind.
