Yep, it's a dream job. Once you get in to the details and the customers, it isn't nearly as much fun.

    Hope ya find something soon.

I know it's a Friday thread and I didn't read the 4 pages of response, but I'll bite;).

I off road since I've mastered Mall Crawling already! I enjoy ArmorAll like the rest of you, but there is life beyond the Cabela's parking lot

I am mostly stock. My third Toyota truck and I have never felt the need to "Lift" If I want to trail ride. I use my old beater YZ490. Yes, it still runs.

Lol. I actually like my work f350. Thing’s a beast. I’d never own one, but as long as the company’s paying for the gas (10 mpg ~) it’s great.

I enjoy going off-road from time-to-time but not enough that I'm going to spend a lot of $$$ moding my Tacoma just to drop it's value.

I think off-roading is sometimes what some use to proclaim "I'm a Manly-Man". Similar to how some C7 Grandsport/Z06 drive their Corvettes in the snow/ice/cold weather when the tire manufacturer specifically warns
they have "summertime only" tires and not to drive below 40 degrees. They brag about how they drive their Corvettes in poor weather like it's the most manly and proudest thing they've ever done in their lives.

I’m with OP on this. I work civil construction and driving off road can be outright stressful. My skid plates And drive shaft are all bashed up. My bumpers and body panels are really scratched from trees. I came to this website for advice on my truck and have been told that I’m a “bro” for wanting a better skid plate. I have also been told that I don’t need 4x4?? I understand that some of you enjoy going off-road and that bad ass. But for some of us, we do it to get a paycheck. And this site doesn’t seem to be ok with that.
I’m not upset, it’s just odd.

I enjoy the exploration aspect of it but for the most part I'm driving off-road to get some where. I've definitely thought about kitting out my truck with plate bumpers, sliders, 2" lift (extended travel) and a set of 32" mud terrains to gain a bit more capability. The reality is the trails around here require a very built rig, Exo, 37s, crawl box, built/locked 1 ton axles and linked suspension etc. The gravel roads and mild trails do not.

The stress makes it fun. Different folks like different things, personally I would rather drink bleach than participate in any fantasy sports, watch sports or play golf. I dont try to figure out why people like it, they just do.

Off roading is probably fun when you want to do it, nor so much when you have to do it.

He I guess for the same reasons as anyone who does something for recreation. Off-roading means different things to different people, for me it’s adventure and challenge. I like exploring places few people have travelled and I like the challenge of navigating obstacles. Each one is a new puzzle that I have to put together and I have to solve it before getting to the next one.

There is also community and camaraderie as most people wheel with friends and you all work together to complete each puzzle. The joy of accomplishment when you have overcome a challenge is I think one of the biggest reasons. It becomes addicting and you want to take on more difficult obstacles.

To me, I never understood the joy of football/American soccer. You run around a huge field constantly. But I LOVE baseball. A lot of people think baseball is a snoozefest. Oh well...
