Not all dealers put there inventories on cars.com or autotrader. With some you have to go to the actual dealer website to see what they have. A couple Toyota dealers in my area do that.

I think it really depends on the dealers inventory. I couldn't get a decent price on any of the tacoma's that were on the dealers lot close by. I ended up contacting one of the largest toyota dealers in the east with multi state dealerships. He had so many new tacos between all their dealerships, he found one very close to what i was looking for. MSRP was around 40k and change. I ended up at 35k plus all the extra fee's before OTD.

No way before taxes and guessing 99.9% that that's with rebate.

Have you ever purchased used vehicles before? Any strategies for that? Kind of a different ballgame.

Oh you're looking used? Well ya, very different. Figured since you're in the 2020 thread and we're discussing rebates, etc. and almost always a better price going new over used on a 1-2 year old taco.

I don’t know the cost of listing vehicles on cars.com or autotrader. But I feel like dealers are only hurting themselves. Sure I can check dealers here locally but when they clearly are stuck in the pre coronavirus mentality and not grounded in reality the only option is to expand the search. And what better way than the internet? That’s how I found this truck.

as far as the other comments about the price being in lalaland it’s no sweat off my back. I’m satisfies with the price so that’s all that i care about. I work with plenty of people who like to shit on everyone’s parade ha. I don’t really care about the fake raptor lights. I don’t know that there’s any benefit to them?

When I bought the 2019 SR access cab that I had last year, I found it on the internet. Only had 1200 miles. Watched it as they lowered the price and then made a lower offer. Worked out good.

Only dealers have the latest info on used car values (Manheim I think it's called). You can try Kelley Blue Book but it's likely not going to be updated as quickly. If you are buying used, I would stick to a private party. You will get a better price. As to what that price should be - I would shoot for the low trade-in value at this point, because dealers are offering below that so you're still going to be paying the seller a premium vs what a dealer would be paying them. However, the problem with most gently used vehicles is that the sellers are upside down, so the odds of finding something you like from a seller who is willing and able to negotiate are slim.

My recent offer from a dealer:

I offered 37000 OTD with the 0% offer

    They came back with-

    MSRP 39161
    Discount 4000 (no rebate)
    Sale price 35.161
Out the door includes fees and 6% tax. 37,990.

That’s a 10.2% discount. Hoping they will go lower. I told them the 37.9k was out of my budget.

You guys think they will bite?

Just received final TTL quote of $39881 based on the 0% apr ($36,670 discount price) for 2020 Trd off-road long bed 4x4. Based on previous posts this sounded like a pretty good deal? Thoughts? Thanks everyone this forum is amazing

Ok guys. Quick question here. I am aware of the $1750 rebate as well as the 0% for 60 month financing. I am under the impression that you can choose one or the other but not both. Is this correct?

No evidence for this but I do believe used car prices are going to go down significantly as some have said here along with some articles saying the same. With trade value being a large portion of my purchase I don’t think all dealers have adjusted for this yet so I figured go for it now.

I would say that is a smart choice, while the market is sort of paralyzed try to maximize both ends of the deal, plenty of auto industry people mentioning the impending doom on 3 fronts, there is huge evidence of a lending crisis, evidence of a bubble in used car prices and over inventory and of course new car sales in the sh*tter. You may be able to get a sweet deal in a few months on a new car but I bet your trade is worth a decent chunk less than what is was precrisis.
